Webber became similar to wurt.
I just wanted to ride spider queens like beefalo.
It can still be an annoyance, but I think it's a small price to pay for the ability to amass a horde of permanent, nigh immortal spiders that you can also carry in and out of the caves, unlike every other follower.
they farm spiders for you and in the morning you can gather the stuff. a spider queen usually gets rekt by them too. not sure how the new nurse spiders effect the farm now though.
Sorry, I don't follow. What exactly is it that the Spider Hat lets me do?
i find it very useless anyway. why do that for spiders when other characters can farm bunnyman for better loot?
the rework didn't improve webber at all. only perk i really appreciate is spider den upgrading and that's not a new addition.
the raw meat consumption is maybe a nice thing early game. before you have your crockpots and those aren't hard to make to begin with. so why not make stew or meatballs and eat that instead? webber can always use the sanity buff.
there are even good very early game recipes like butter muffin if you need health.
if i want to play a monster character, wortox has better perks and wurt can still befriend bunnyman, while webber offers no real perks that are significant or that other characters can make use of with the spider hat.
I never said anything about a spider civil war. I was talking about using spiders to kill everything else.
just like webber you have 20 dens around, wait until dusk and pull a few spiders with the hat to initiate a fight on whatever you wanna kill, be it bee queen or whatever.
again, why bother with spiders when bunnyman get the job done way better?
The only way either of those comparisons make sense is if you purposefully ignore all the unique advantages Webber's spiders have: cheapness, permanent loyalty, portability (even between shards), tankiness (aside from basic spiders) and, you know, the part where nurse spiders render your spider horde virtually immortal.
yea permanent loyalty, you have to screw up big time that it comes into play though. having to make a run back to base with all your spiders etc.
cheapness, well yea but not exclusively for webber. just go clear a cave swamp of all the nests or a spider quarry and you can plant a army of future spider dens worth of spiders near bee queen or whatever else you wanna use the weakest mobs in masses on.
bee queen is the only enemy they can take. if dragonfly does a enraged stomp your army will be taken out. this is true for pretty much all followers though.
portability, already addressed it and out of all, probably spitters or lunar spiders are the best spider variant.
tankiness, irrelevant. the slow attack pattern and no kiting makes them pretty much need a somewhat high health pool. wonder if nurses really do give immortality to the army. i know that webber gets heals for free which maybe could outheal incoming damage. for your army i'm not sure though.
again, the rework didn't buff much on webber at all. we now have global changes to spiders with boxing them and releasing them later. it's no webber only trait. and even webber can't bring his cave spider followers to the surface. he'll have to box and transport them as items just as any other character.
not sure if lunar spiders hop on a raft, i doubt it. so again, you'll have to box your spiders.
nurse spiders can't be stolen off of a living spider queen. so again, gotta box trap them and release them so they lose their spider queen loyalty or you have to wait until the queen is dead or planted itself as a new nest.
guess you could swap spider variants with the item. depending on how many uses it has and how expensive it is to craft a new one it maybe isn't that viable to use. and i doubt you can get spitter or lunar variants that way, so again, not the best method.
overall most of webber traits are still meh at best.
That's why after all the reworks it still GENERALLY makes sense to craft what you need and then play a combat character.
Maxwell manages to somewhat do it since he's the only one who can have shadow puppets.
We need more Maxwells.
There's one paragraph in there that's just false and three that end with you admitting you don't know what you are talking about.
1. Nurse Spiders do their healing thing every 8 seconds and it heals all spiders in the vicinity for 150 HP (and Webber for 8HP), so unless you are fighting something that can deal more than 150 damage in those 8 seconds, yes, your spiders are basically immortal.
2. Webber can just pick up spider followers with a right click and carry them in and out of the caves that way. Traps are not needed.
3. All spiders can hop on boats.
4. You can "unlink" a spider from its nest or queen by carrying it in and out of the caves.
5. You can make Switcherdoodles for every spider type and you get 1 per craft. Some are kinda expensive, the Nurse ones are really cheap.
So, basically, Webber can form a horde of multiple types of nigh-unkillable spiders that follow him everywhere he goes until they die or are dismissed and contribute their DPS to his own, on top of healing him in the case of Nurses.
Even the "weak" basic spiders add 6.67 DPS each, so with 1 Monster Meat you can permanently hire 3 of them for an instant, permanent +20 DPS.
And you insist that the Spiderhat, an item that lets you mind control the local spider population for all of 2 minutes (that's literally how long it lasts), is somehow comparable to having a horde of permanent, nigh-unkillable followers. Consider my mind officially boggled.
that's good enough. coz spiders are still the worst follower you can use, despite them now being able to wear head armor and all that crap.
yea spiderdoodles or wtfever they're called come with all variants. wiki states though, that you have to have befriended a spider of that type before. and yes, some are very expensive to craft if all it does is switch 1 spider
well okay, then followers do hop on raft and webber can click pickup spiders. that doesn't make him any better though. any character can bring a extra stack of grass for boxes.
i'm not sure you get the dps right. spiders bite like once every 10 seconds. that's so pitiful. and hiring 3 of them is hardly 20 dps. that's what you can say of werepigs or bunnyman because they do 40 damage and attack about once every 2 seconds or so.
so again, other followers win there.
yes, spider hat. yes it's *only 2 minutes LUL* which doesn't matter. if you want i record you a damn video.
all you need is like about 20 tier 3 dens and initiate 1 or 2 spiders on the queen so the rest joins in. and then you can possibly bush hat on screen and watch bee queen melting to death.
no webber required to pull this off.
