Ridiculous boss creatures
I'm playing this with a friend, and we would waste huge amounts of dynamite and fire wands, let the hounds attack them, let the frogs attack them, but they would still survive. Like that giant goose thing. Are we missing something?

there is no dynamite :V
in DST bosses get immunity to gunpowder, if you want to make full dmg then you need to wait 10s between each gunpowder explosion

DST is multiplayer so everything was balanced to apply for 4 players game, there is mod which autobalances game into the amount of players that are currently on server, it's advised to get this one

Gunpowder was what I meant, haven't played in a while. Thanks, I will look into that mod.
There are many ways to go about this, but just remember the moment a boss like the goose or the dragonfly flies away, their HP is restored. Try planting a ton of tooth traps and have him activate them. Or simply gather a bunch of wood armor (or whatever you have on hand) and some good weapons, and just keep attacking while attempting to dodge its attacks. Usually 2-3 strikes are good between dodges. Also remember to pack HP related items such as blue caps or honey-related items. I also like your use of fire wands, just make sure to wait until after the fire goes out to strike again. Good luck to ya! :)

Kiting is also a viable strat for bosses. Just have the boss chase you into a large herd of beefalo and get it to use an AOE on them. Then just sit back with some popcorn. You end up with a ton of meat and a softened or dead boss. This might not work so well for all of the bosses but I know it works wonders on the deerclops and bearger. And if the beefalo are in heat, it works on treegaurds too. I imagine they would work well on the moosegoose too but, I haven't gotten around to trying it yet.
tbh your best bet is just Kiting and playing wolfgang, but if you really want to cheese then worm woods traps are a safe bet. Treeguards also work well for most bosses if you can get them to spawn.

Thanks for some of those tips. I think I'll try to "befriend" a tree guard and see what happens.

I don't think the beefalo strat is as good, because ending up with no or very few beefalo on the map has some disadvantages. I used to lure certain creatures like the deerclops into the swamp, where he would get finished off by the tentacle thingies, but this doesn't work for other boss creatures.

Not sure about the melee/kiting strategy either, because those things have just so much HP that I will have to attack them for 30 min. or whatever and use tons of armor/weapons, since they all degrade rather fast.

We will be playing again this Friday and we'll see how me manage.

This is wrong. You can use a stack of gunpowder to weaken Deerclops, Bearger and Moose Goose. 18 for Deerclops and 24 for the other two. That will weaken them enough so you only have to hit them a few times to finish the job. If anything you have to be careful not to use too much or they will die from fire and the loot will turn to ash.

I'm not sure why you try to convinve people that gunpowder doesn't work.

because in don't starve together bosses get immunity for gunpowder (about 10 dmg less per 1 stack, until they are 100% immune, and this resets every 10s since first explosion)
you have mistaken game forums with normal don't starve

Wrong. I know this is the Don't Starve Together forums. I have played enough of both to know the difference. Have you tried using gunpowder or are you just regurgitating something you heard?

I have used gunpowder and it couldn't kill ♥♥♥♥ in single hit because of that immunity :P
Maybe you use mod which disables this, but I'm talking about vanilla

Then you did it wrong. Besides you don't want to kill them with gunpowder, only weaken them so you can finish them off with a weapon.

Are you thinking of this update that changed gunpowder?

"Keep in mind that the amount of explosives required to take down any boss is still the same as long as you time them properly."
aka wait 10s between explosions as I have said already

Read that comment again.

"Keep in mind that the amount of explosives required to take down any boss is still the same as long as you time them properly. This is meant to allow the ANR bosses with larger health pools to at least have some chance to transition through their intended phases. For most of the old giants, this change will most likely make no difference whatsoever."

The old giants as in, Deerclops, Bearger and Moose Goose.

Explain why? If you try to one shot them with gunpowder they will be set on fire and all the loot will turn to ash.

I have been editting my post and you have managed to create new comment first

some bosses don't have good drops, and for some the drops don't burn
like antlion, dragonfly or reanimated skeletons, there is also case when you don't need the drops
(sketches don't burn)

TLDR:
You were actually right about gunpowder on old bosses

full:
the edit was going something like that:
I have went to game to check it:
And you were right and I was wrong.
but... during test I have found out that their immunity now is suuuper weak o-O
instead of 20 gunpowders, it took me about 24-25 of them to kill deerclops while triggering immunity (I have been throwing gunpowders 1 by 1 without stacks so they slowly go boom)
and when I was about to save edit you have posted:

The old giants as in, Deerclops, Bearger and Moose Goose.
there is also dragonfly from old giants
(spider queen/tree guard/ancient guardiant aren't giants, but are old and considered bosses/ minibosses, no word about them)
but, you are right, I didn't notice this part of message, it explains a lot actually...
when I tested gunpowders last time I have went for new bosses... and their immunity works (just tested it rn too)

If you are having troubles, its only because you don't know how to fight them.
Nothing more to that really.

Go to youtube and learn strats.

You can't fix being bad in any other way then learning and practice - noob ways are expensive and time consuming.
