They will have to be real careful with his recipes and tweaking for Wobby, just monster meat seems pretty cheap for beefalo tier movement speeds with no random buck offs.
The free chester aspect is also concerning considering they make Warly have to craft his first chef pouch, kind of a red flag that the idea of a "balanced" character changes dramatically per refresh/character.
Not sure how much monster meet it takes to transform or how much of a food drain he could be. We don't know Walter's base stats either, he could be a glass canon given emphasis on avoiding direct combat.
So he should have more hp or just the normal amount
and his sanity should be low.

remove portable tent, helmet and ability to cook faster. :)
Honestly low HP is better balance than sanity could ever be, going insane with low hp means greater chance of dying during a boss fight,. Portable tent is fine since no one uses tents to begin with other than Wormwood, which is a nice new possible synergy....
As long as helmet is somewhat expensive to craft, than it's not the end of the world.
It looks like Woby is baked into the character, so I think it should remain. However, maybe it would be more appropriate to craft a saddle in order to ride Woby as a mount....
How can you kill Beequen without Bunny Chesse as Walter? How Woby Mechanic Gonna be in Term of Metabolism? like Critter or Beefalo? Can Woby Dead? ts the Inventory slot gonna be same as Chester? what Recipe of Walter item?How many The Hat and Forest Restore Sanity for Walter? it is the tent Same as Normal Tent or Decrase Usage due to Portable or Expensive to Craft but same Usage like Normal tent?
Well many question will Walter End up like Warly? kinda Chalange Character for newcomer Many perk but easly to dead if you not focus on Grinding Ammo for your Slingshot? What Recipe of the Ammo of Slingshot? how many Slingshot deal Damage? its the Slingshot Have Durability? its is like Spear Gun like Don't Starve Shipwrecked? or Wheller Pewmatic Horn Don't Starve Hamlet?

we don't know the balance of those things, yet instead of balancing all of that, some may not be needed at all! Too many things for a single character.
But, if the sanity debuff is really game changing, maybe that's the reason they added a hat and the campfire stories
Slingshot - I doubt this will be powerful. Having multiple types of ammo can be an inventory hog. How much do the rounds stack? Does it take up two inventory spots all the time (1 for slingshot and 1 for ammo) or do you have to "load" the ammo? Poop pellets is the most interesting imho. Being able to deaggro from a distance would make it easier to get mobs to fight each other.
Sanity - If he doesn't take sanity damage from food, this is just bonkers. But I'm guessing it's just sanity auras, darkness, caves, etc. It will make him a great cave main.
Hat - Sounds useless honestly, unless the sanity drain from damage is severe (side note, does that include picking cactti?)
Portable Tent - Kinda neat I guess.
Bee Allergy - Hilarious. Makes Bee Queen more challenging, and "bee biome" potentially much more deadly.
Woby - How many inventory spots? I doubt it will replace chester. Can Woby die? How much MM does it cost? I doubt the mounting would be better than beefalo riding, but if it's a slight speed boost like Weregoose it would at least be good before walking cane.
Campfire Stories - Probably useless, but excellent flavor.
He seems to be a rather versatile character that can do a lot of things and has many different items available to him that would each be pretty good, but none of them seem terribly OP compared to what we already have in the game.
The sanity drain can be a really strong downside for him depending on how it's implemented (and i really hope it will be), we have to remember that not every player is a 2k hours pro at the game, and sanity isn't at all a trivial mechanic to deal with (heck, even at 1.4k hours i still get annoyed by sanity when i'm trying to do my work and have to be constantly fighting Terrorbeaks). To be honest, i feel like people are underestimating the potential of the sanity downside to be saying he has none.
If you're a good enough player, then nothing will ever be a strong enough downside to make up for a character's upside, and we can't take just the best players as a parameter to decide if a downside is bad enough for a character.
But low hp also means you die faster. If lower hp was really an upside, Maxwell would be the choice for fighting, not Wolfgang.
