REGION LOCKED 2nd copy

this was nowhere on the store page that i could find, how do i play with my international friend now....

When you buy "Don't Starve Together" "both" of them (the one you buy and the free copy that comes with it) are locked to the region the buyer is in.

If you're wanting to gift it to someone that lives outside of that region, or vice versa.. whoever the the gift copy was given to wouldn't be able to play it.

If the gift copy was already accepted there isn't much you can do at this point (unless it was purchased within the past 2 weeks and played less than 2 hours.. then BOTH people would need to put in for a refund and then the original buyer would need to purchase it again.. this time not giving the gift copy to someone outside of that region.. they can instead give it to someone that lives in that region or they can make a post in the Trading section on here and trade it for another game/skins/etc).

Gift copies will say in the Steam Inventory if they are Region Locked (and if so, what regions they are playable in).

Region Locked has to do with where the game can be activated.

Once you have the game (that is in the correct region for you) you're still able to play with anyone; regardless of where they are in the world.

go to non-region-locked country
buy it there

if you buy stuff in non region locked country then stuff isn't region locked


or just tell your friend to visit region locked country and use gift there, be it in real world or VPN
