Tutorial???

I never played a don't starve game before. I bought it for me and my girlfriend and chose to start it before her to understand the game and help her with it when she will start. The problem is I'm completly lost. I don't find any tutorial in game. The only thing I did so far is collect saplings and eat carrots. Is there a tutorial in game and I did not find it or I need to go look up guide and youtube video to learn the game. I just wanna know the basic.

Best bet is to look up a quick guide on youtube. There is no tutorial in game, it just throws you in and lets you learn from trial and error basically. Youll get a hang of it pretty quickly.

youtube and the don't starve wiki are great to learn things. not because there is no tutorial, but because the game is HUGE, it has too many things and you will need to search for info. also, there are threads around the forum where you can read older players' experiences. that's awesome too.
i'd recommend you the Klei forums; that's the official don't starve forum and the community is pretty cool and active

if you are lucky enough to fall in love with DST at first sight, you will read and learn a lot about it. also? it's way funnier to be lost in DST world with a partner and together you will learn things. you need to observe what happens around you, just like scientists and learn out of it for the next try.

if u have time tho, enjoy the game for a bit before searching for a guide. said guide might ruin you the game explaining all the little features u learn buy trying and trying and dying and dying which is part of the game

Thank everyone. I played for a couple of hours and found how to survive the first few days. Made a science machine and tried to find poop before dying in the night, Tho is there a gold to the game other than surviving as long as possible? Like do we need to find or build something?

There's no ultimate goal, except survival. That's not to say you can't set any number of goals for yourself. I've got one world I'm working on carpeting. Like, the entire thing. :)
