Bee Queen Advanced Tactics
I've posted something on this before but hey.

So I've done damageless fights of every boss except the bee queen and fuelweaver without cheese so far. With minimal testing, I've found I can only hit bee queen once before I have to dodge, so the fight is going to be really long. Getting the grumble bees out of the picture would speed up the fight a ton. I might resort to the maze strat to deal with them but I'm still testing right now.

lureplants don't act like walls for them, but i know frozen creatures do. I'd rather not use flingos though. Someone told me something weird while I was streaming that he deaggroed bee queen a bunch and it stopped leaving a honey trail? Sounds like bs to me but who knows. Glitches are definitely out of the question though. Not fighting bee queen over the ocean :P

Any ideas?

I would also be interested in this. I'm pretty sure it's gonna involve walls though.

I tried fighting the bee queen in a box where the opening is way off screen but all this does is spawn an infinite amount of grumble bees.

The bee queen fight is glitching alot.

I mean cudos for testing and such, but i wouldn't really bother with damageless run.

For example the grumble bees glitch when they are enraged and hit you no matter what, even if you wear walkin cane. And the bee queen got insane range even on a 40 ping server you get hit out of nowhere, last but not least the grumble bees glitch through fences and wooden doors. So on paper the maze sounds like amazing strat, but in reality never works ...
:rfacepalm:

But good luck regardless, u got a twitch channel with all those damageless runs? Might be interesting :3

Once i finish bee queen and fuelweaver i'll post a video. should be the first one to do damageless melee only. As for the glitching, I play solo. I've never had any issues with getting hit for no reason. Even then, there is a reason, you would just have to dodge sooner and go in to attack before it looks like she's done attacking you depending on ping. The grumble bees *don't* glitch through fences at random either. They can only clip through them if something pushes them through, or you're standing just outside of their range. Don't Starve can be weird sometimes, but there's always a reason for something strange happening. Even if it's something that shouldn't happen, you can still get a pretty good understanding as to why it happened anyway.

Also yeah, making an enormous maze just makes her spawn more grumble bees if they manage to get far enough away. Kinda wondering if there would be a way to deaggro them without killing them. Reliable deaggroing would be almost as helpful as total entrapment.

I won't detail any basics since I'm sure you're familiar with her mechanics and what methods are known. If you're hell bent on no dmg while taking an active role in combat, WX or wolfgang with as much speed as you can muster can technically do it, or more practically but with set the method you already mentioned. Freeze some pig men inside some walls and use them to trap her, and find a way to tie up her grumble bees so she don't spawn more.

They glitch through fences by default. Let me explain what i mean by this, mostly this glitch happens at 50% life or phase #2 of bee queen.

When the bee queen shouts to speedbuff the gumble bees the engine is not optimized for this behaviour. So if there is a fence and all 8 or such grumble bees are on the other side of the fence and timing RNG bee queen shouts the grumble bees will glitch through the fence. Because when they speedbuff each entitiy is pushing the front entity with speedbuff even through obstacles like fence etc.
So this is a intrinsically bad design or bad engine / physics or however you want to call it problem.
Don't get me wrong i never did a damageless run on any of the bosses so i'm sure you know more about pixel or frame perfect dodges, but this glitch with bee queen can't be avoided, because u can't 24/7 stop her from taunting the speed glitch. Even if you sleep her she only sleeps 5 seconds tops, and freezing takes also several hits i believe ...

I can say this because on the weekend i tested bee queen just for fun as WX robot and with alot of thulecite gear from ruins on public server. Yes i know public klei servers got bad or worse ping than "solo world", but this speed fence glitch has nothing to do with ping and is intrinsically bad engine design :c :c
Same glitch can be seen when u get chased by several shadows like terrorbeaks and lower shadows. IF terrorbeak run BEHIND the low shadow they get speedglitch pushed into front and you can't kite them anymore, because they get a speedbonus and unkitable

Also bee queen can glitch hit your through walls. Even if she is on opposite wall of the fence she can still hit sting you, even though it should be technically impossible ...

Many specific problems with "flying objects", fuelweaver ofc has different problems with insanity filter and engine :c

Sry for bad english you know what i mean? IDK how to explain better :C

Anyway good luck for sure for your hardcore project, but you got any twitch videos for older bosses like klaus or toadstool? I would be interested to learn raids better.
:meaty:

GL

PS: if you want u can leave your twitch channel link, i watch stuff if it's cool :D

Here's a secret.
You can no hit run bee queen glitchless as webber with spiders.

Could you please explain how that’s possible? They are good until her final phase where she screeches constantly, causing the spiders to never actually hit her.

What was it? That the slow down for the honey is avoided for him as if it where web?
Ozzey_Lee Mar 25, 2019 @ 1:56pm
No the near limitless number of spiders are able to keep the Bee Queens aggro and out dps her at the same time and since the Bee Queen isn't an aoe boss, the more spiders the better.

Same is often done with a bunch of bunnymen, wearing football helmets.

Not true. Spiders will not work due to Bee Queen's screech, it will scare all of the spiders and make them lose aggro. If you try to get their aggro back onto her, the grumble bees will hit you as well, causing the spiders to fight the grumble bees, kill them, and lose aggro. The only reason it works with Bunnymen is because they target monsters, which allows them to quickly go back to fighting Bee Queen after a screech.

Well at the very least this allows you to skip the winding up of the fight. If only there was something really tanky that also naturally didn't like her...

Yes that's true, spiders do alot of the work for you, you just have to finish her off. Another good way I found to kill her is using Bearger. If you keep honey in your inventory and aggro Bearger, he will still chase you even after he kills the Grumble Bees fighting him. You can use his swings to decimate the Grumble bees and deal 200 dmg per swing. It's pretty tedious and may take a while, but it should work.

Nice bait, i r8 8/8.
I'm amazed that so many people did fall for his wrong information though xD
Smutje is a troll FYI :p

Definitely should've specified more, but I'm doing melee only with no minions and minimal cheese. Freezing bosses is out of the question. Just using methods and materials that would be considered somewhat normal. Like ice staves for dragonfly isn't super common, but isn't unheard of. For bee queen I might bend the no cheese rule a bit, but whatever I do, I still want it to be a really hard fight. Mainly just looking to get the grumble bees out of the picture.

Side lining them with a maze and or kiting back up and down the 15 tiles in either direction of hive are your only "minimalist" options really.
