Questions about Character Switching (Moon Rock Idols)

Hi, the whole Moon Rock Idol character switching thing is something very new to me. Don't Stave hasn't had a feature like this for quite some time... (Remember when Tents could change characters?)

I'm asking about the details of what happens when I switch characters; Do I lose everything I've prototyped? Do I lose my mapping? Items? Is my world RESET? (Probably not)

And on top of that, I'm around day 300 playing as Wilson, so any advice on what character I could switch too would be nice to hear.

I remember reading that all the map progress and prototypes are saved.
So i'm pretty sure you'll be fine.

You keep your prototypes, map, items and world. But I recommend dropping some items by the portal in case you have a full inventory and the new starting items replace items.

For a character, I'd say WX78 because hes not too much of a change from wilson, especially on day 300 with a buncha gears.
