How to farm spiders w/o bunnymen?

title. I was thinking about putting 2 spider dens over say 4 pig houses, but idk if that works. Priority is silk. Any advice from an experienced player? I don't have caves.

You'd probably need more pig houses in this case since there will be more than 18 spiders (If tier 3) respawning often. That and you'll need some way to keep the pigs out during dusk or the spiders contained since the pigs will go home then.

Tooth traps could work too, since you need them for hound attacks, you could make a spider / hound den using them. Put down a spider nest and around it spread your tooth traps, this could be expended upon considering late game you will have a tone of hound teeth. The best way of farming silk is with either bunnymen or rock lobsters, I recommend you start playing with caves, Caves are quite easy, so there's no reason to play a world without caves imo.

I can't play with caves, I have lags when I do.

Theres a mod i believe that spawns cave content on the Overworld so you dont have to run two servers though id imagine ud have to start a new world. maybe try that out? otherwise u can try just regular traps, play as/with a wendy or honestly just good ole fashioned fighting.
Just lure the spiders out of their den during the day in waves and kite them theyre so easy to kill ive never felt the need to construct intricate farms tbh either with bunnies or lobsters

I typically use tooth traps. It's a real pain to get but it's worked really well for me.
You plant down the spider egg, then surrounded it in the traps. Works best when you have a fenced off 5x3 square area. You fence off the area then place spider egg in the center with the traps filling as much of the rest of the area as you can fit. You then go in to reset/replace the traps as needed.

If you have a plethora of grass and twigs you can surround the spider nest with "regular" traps (the same ones used to catch rabbits). You don't need to bait the traps unless you just want to (and if you do you can simply bait them with excess monster meat).

Why that's a great idea. I do have tons of grass and twigs. I will try that, thanks.
