Why are there so many Anime character mods?
I don't have anything against them, it's cool that people put forth the effort to build mods at all, but i just never imagined don't starve to be very anime? Like the art style, the humor, the culture are all things very seperate from anime. How did these things end up mixing?

Well, drawn characters are perfectly suitable and anime produced much more interesting characters then western style cartoons ever will.

That or they are all just weebs.

DS and DST is quite a unique game for mod creators :P being able to create a character in a small amount of time is really fun but also the art style is very unique ^^

so a lot of weeby mod creators create anime peeps

I haven't tried creating a mod yet, but the reasons I could conclude are:

A) They didn't want to try and design a unique mechanic. (Some of them actually do. Props.)
B) They couldn't think of a name starting with W. (Not that it matters. It's a mod character.)
C) They simply didn't want to make up their own individual twists to the lore we know.
D) They didn't want to come up with their own character design.
E) They just want to show their support for their favorite shows/media. (Most likely reason.)

Personally, I won't find myself using these mods, from what I've seen some even have benefits and disadvantages that stand out, but I'm sure they have their demographic if they are able to take up most of the workshop.

Yeah you're right on most of these but eh, Me and a lot of other mod creators hate how they always claim top spots for creating over powered but of course interesting design styles, but its like.. why? Just why clog up the workshop with these rather than your own unique idea.

1. A large portion of the community is based in asia for some reason. Just look at the server list when filtered by population.

2. People in the community are just lazy and uncreative. Editing a very basic furry template or tracing a low detail anime character is easy. Making a character in this game's specific art style is not, it requires actual understanding of the source material and use of effort.

3. The game is more appealing to children so #2 is largely a result of that.

For whatever reason, I actually never noticed that, but now that you mentioned it, there is also Maxwell, who was the initial bad guy, but capital M is just reversed capital W.

Imo,DST and anime don't go together.Seeing some people playin the game with some of those op anime characters gives the impression that 50% of th players have no clue about the game.
I would not even play with somebody together who picks one of these anime mods.
Plus there are just appearing more and more of them.

To be honest I just wish the workshop had a tag filter.

I'd like to find some good quality mods on the workshop without having to dig through over 9000 OP weeb trash anime character mods in the process.

Yeah I know right but I mean, they did put effort into it but it'd be way better to have a language filter too.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBDV_Pl6t2Q&t=587s
here is the video for refference enjoy Warriat enjoy it

also to OP

don't starve has a artstyle that seems to almost be like anime (wich i disagree with it's more Tim Burton styled)
so that makes what do they call themself? weebs right?
ya it makes weebs make anime mods as most mods are in chinese and from what i am aware off (take with grain of salt) but anime seems to be a normal thing there so it's like for an american what the simpsons is

TLDR: chinese people watch anime and know how to code and play DST

apolegies for the necro on my end i won't speak for the others but i hope this works as a appolegy have a good life! and Don't Starve!
