I cant equip items with any skin whatsoever

So this is my problem.

Every once in a while I get random gifts like everyone does, and i get outfits and cool skins for items. I can equip my character with the clothes I like, but I cant find a way to change the skin of any items (for example, the torch or my backpack)
I am aware that when I go to the crafting menu to craft any of these items, theres a little arrow next to the item pointing right, which clealy tells me that I can reskin the item, but everytime I press that arrow, its just crafts the item.

Can anybody help me out?

I'm pretty sure that's not supposed to happen, do you have any mods enabled?

A temporary workaround could be dropping some of the materials to craft the item, switching to the skin then picking up the items and crafting it (no idea if that would work though).

So for example if you want to make a tragic torch you would:
1: drop all your twigs
2: switch to the tragic torch skin
3: pick up the twigs
4: craft the tragic torch

I have tried it with mods both on and off, yet it doesnt see to be a mod incompatibility.
Droping the items and picking them up just wont work because i cant perform your step 2, meaning i cant switch to any skin yet it gives me the option (every time I try to click the arrow to change the skin, the arrow wont even highlight when I put the mouse over it)
I really dont know what to do or what the problem might be

Have you "verified the integrity of game files" for "Don't Starve Together" in your Steam Library (when the game isn't running)?

Have tried restarting your computer?

Did you by chance sell, trade, or unravel your skins?

I have tried verifying the files and nothing was wrong with them, restarting the pc doesnt do anything, and selling and trading doesnt seem to change anything

Maybe I should uninstall and reinstall the game? But wont all the data be erased?

If you uninstall/reinstall:
-The items/skins you received as drops/purchased/wove/etc, will still be in your Steam Inventory.
-You'll lose all world saves unless you back them up first.

Before you do that, I would uninstall ALL mods you are using(even if you have to go into your "Don't Starve Together" folder/file and manually delete them) to see if that's causing the problem.

Maybe keeping the worlds I've done is a mistake, but im gonna make a backup anyway just in case I delete everything and the bug is still there.

And no, I am not using controller, but imma try to use it just in case it works with it

Okay! Good news guys, i "kinda" found the bug in the game.

For some reason, using the PS4 controller will let me change skins, which is great. However, I found out theres a little bug where if I open the inventory pressing the Caps Lock button, no matter what Item I want to craft, I just cant change its skin. On the other hand, if I instead open the crafting menu by clicking on it, it will allow me to change skins.

In short, I cant change skins if I enter the crafting menu with Caps Lock, but I can if I enter the crafting menu by clicking on it

Doesnt really solve the problem to why I cant just change skins normally tho, any idea why this might be?

Caps Lock is a keyboard oriented way of using inventory (no mouse), and is a different style/layout. I don't think skins are changeable from that layout.

It's there so you can "quick craft". Like when it's almost dark, you have to run from something, and you have no torch/etc.

I was also struggling with this problem. So it's a feature and not a bug of that menu.
