HELP! How to enable couch coop?

Hi, I'm seeing articles online about this game having a local split-screen coop mode and videos of peopel playing like that, but I can't find a way to activate this in game :( I have a PC connected to a TV, and this would be a great game to play from the couch with friends, but I don't see hwo to do it.

The footage you're seeing is most likely from the console version.

For some reason the split screen wasn't / couldn't be implemented on PC, and that's why you get a second copy of the game as gift instead.

Sadly it is only on consoles.

Really? I am disappointed, what a stupid move. I don't understand. A console is essentialy a computer with additional restrictions, so why would they make it available for consoles and not a PC? Plenty people own both a PC and a large TV. I can't play on the couch with two copies of the game on a single screen, can I? :( Not to mention, doesn't that require 2 steam accounts, instead of jsut turning on a controlelr and be good to go?

because on PC you get 2x more game copies

and I wouldn't be surprised if it was pain in the butt to code it on PC
if it wasn't then there would be mods for it already

Just look it up, there are ways to run two instsnces of the same game on one pc. ( You can even do so with pretty much any game)

Once you have them both running, place them in the same server and figure out how to give them independent controls and you're good to go.

You seriously want devs to give people instruction "download some 3rd party program, then download shaddy file, then mess around with game files, now you have split screen"?

Wait you guys got second copies of the game? I only got one copy for myself...

DST always have option buy 1 get 2 from release at 2016 and when they going to console they make buy 1 get spilt screen. and you cant get more copy if the game its gifted to you, only you buy by ourself or gifted a packcage of the game

1. owners of DS got the DST for free
2. anyone could gift you the game
3. real owner fo account bought it and given away the second copy instantly

I looked in my buy history and didn't even see don't starve though I'm confused, I forgot dst came with it though thanks. And what do you mean real owner?
