Can you expand the Oasis???
Ok, I’m trying to finish building my summer base at an oasis and the problem is that I don’t really have anymore space for the amount of structures and buildings I have placed there. I just want to know if it is possible to expand the oasis by changing the turfs around it so I can avoid using my desert goggles all the time from effects of the “Sandstorm” or whatever it’s called. Please help.

I don't think so, terrarforming is kinda awkward in DST. Your best bet are some mods or other better map generation. Besides why are so many people addicted to only build bases in the oasis biome? There are alot of cool biomes and building there bases instead is also fun.
Why not try a cave or swamp base as a change of pace instead?

Seeing the nth YT video mega base with only an oasis base gets pretty repetitive, boring and uncreative :c

To my knowledge there is no way to reduce Sandstorm or increase the range of the Oasis' effects by changing turfs.
My recommendation is to only put essentials in the Oasis, and either eschew other structures or put them in the areas affected by the sandstorm. I personally enjoy living minimally at the Oasis until Autumn when I replenish my gold nugget supply at the Pig King. It's a lot of fun, good luck!

Cheese solution is also to simply disable summer / wildfires / sandstorms altogether.
Check world settings or console commands how to do it.

People overthink stuff. There was never a need for oasis to survive summer. It is easy to survive summer, overheat and wildfires, just needs some creativity.

I don't think it's healthy if people clinge too hard towards 1 specific biome / mechanic.
Besides grinding antlion is not really worth it cause bad loot and waste of time. Unless you enjoy niché decorating your base with myriards of glass spikes and sand castles :3

I personally don't care what other people do in this game in terms of what is mainstream or typical. I love deserts and think that the ones Klei designed for this game are really lovely so I want to spend time in them. The Oasis is super cool and useful, most uniquely in the summertime. There's nothing wrong with basing there.

Yes but that actually was not my point. I just see it like this:
There is no point in making an artificial problem ( for example I MUST BASE IN oasis) than if there is easy solution and more fun and streamlined gameplay.

OFC DST is sandbox and you are free to play however you want. But if you are not a developer or modder, why search for awkward weird obstacles, which might never happen?

You know what i mean? Sry english bad :c

Why not have simple casual fun in a game instead? In past the meta was "build always PK or beefalo base" and metas change constantly with updates / rebalances.

TL;DR
Don't follow meta and don't try to force build stuff in oasis. If oasis is 100% filled to the brim either build in new biome or simply stop using oasis intense? Oasis is a cute biome, but only 0.1% of DST full content :3 Don't drown in puddle of water, there is ocean of possibilities in sandboxing!

I have a very good solution for this problem: spend the summer in the caves, you'll never have problems with the sandstorm again. :) And no, you can't expand the oasis. I love the osais as well, I like to have it as a little summer base when I just wanna chill. I usually place some crockpots there, an icebox, and an endothermic firepit, that's all you need, and maybe some food brought from your main base, including watermelons and ice ;)

You're probably way overdoing the summer base.

Oasis base should be compact, desert provides all you need to survive the summer.

I tend to just harvest the cacti in proximity and catch fish while loading up on trinkets, eating a combination of Fishsticks and Flower Salads exclusively. This also serves as a good time to strategize my time for the upcoming autumn so it doesn't go to waste!

OP
you might visit official klei forums or ask some modder to help, for sure in the vanilla game there is no way to obtain what you seek

steam forums are full of trolls who create artifical problems just to off-topic on random threads

Thing is, I planned to use the oasis for a renewable source of food through fishing so thats why i prefer the oasis more than caves and I dont want to have to build light all the time

I don't know how much you played with the game, so I don't want to offend you, but you know there are portable light sources in the game, right? :) It's very easy to use your miner hat and lantern in the caves, because the lightbulbs naturally spawn there, and you can also use slurtle slime for fuel, which is worse than a lightbulb , but it won't spoil. I'm not judging your play style, it's just my personal opinion that fishing is very-very ineffective in this game, especially with only one pond, because you have to wait a lot, and the reward is not that great, and the oasis lake gives you less fish than a regular pond. The caves - the ruins are full of food, it's more rewarding to build a small base in the ruins, you will never go hungry.

I am not new to the game, I just want to do everything safely because that is my own playstyle. So heres the thing about caves: dont want to have to deal with antlion's rage in the caves because they block my escape routes and its a pain in the ass to mine the boulders so I use Oasis for Trinkets and also, the thing about caves is the amount of depth worms that comes to attack me. I mean I could kite the worms but there are about 3-5 that comes thus leaving me to just run and get cornered by bats and bunnymen (Im playing webber). Hounds are a problem too and they could come the oasis to kill me but i have local beefalos nearby. Nightmare Phase is also a huge pain in the ass. Also I have am uncontrollably greedy so I could die in the ruins very fast. I believe oasis is a safer option.

Kill Antlion and the depth worms? None of them are particularly difficult especially if you have a team or wolfgang\wig.

I use the Basements mod to have a small footprint for bases.
