Overheating is still a thing.
Not overheating.
If you heat up, you can still die to that.
However, you can stand inside fire all you want. Fire icons will appear, but these will be transparent, showing you not taking damage.
For example, you can stand inside DragonFly's magma ponds just fine, but you'll overheat in a bit.
OVERHEAT and FIRE DAMAGE are 2 pairs of shoes. Like apple and oranges.
Willow is complete fire immune as rework intended. But obviously she is NOT overheat immune.

It's a seemingly subtle distinction, but I understand now. She does not take damage from fire, but the heat from fire is still deadly, though not as fast.
Campfire - fire does not damage, but heat does. You will die if you stand too close to a campfire too long.
Summer heat - no fire, just heat, which causes damage. You will die without a thermostone or endo fire.
Burning stuff, like set a tree on fire and stand in it. Fire does no damage, but heat does. This, however, takes time so if for example you die and your pile of stuff catches fire, you can resurrect and come and pick it up without taking damage from the fire. The heat will get you, but not before you pick up all your stuff. This is really nice because prior to this, if your stuff catches fire, you are pretty much out of luck and will loose most of it. Seems to be the only useful fire immunity I've seen so far, but I admittedly have not tried a lava pit yet.
Honestly, so far I'm finding her fire immunity to be over rated.
Really play singleplayer DS and you will see how fun and powerful willow can be. Bernie was always bad compensation for the fire engine changes ...
Bequese DST got different engine and fire works differently willow is basically nerfed no matter what rework they will do. Willow could also light stacks of grass of her inside her inventory and basically kill burn any nearby enemies etc etc. All this is not possible in DST, this is why DST engine is kinda inferior, if u like playing willow :c
sry mate
TL;DR
If you love playing with fire and pyromanic play DS. If you scared of fire and want "safety" play DST. But then willow will be very weak and subpar by design and engine :c
