It becomes weaker than a spear after 9 days so depending on the situation you could ditch it after it's become stale or just keep it till it falls apart in your hands.

Usually it's the moment it gets stale, you can still use it as it's still more dmg than normal spear but you should consider giving 4 monster meat to convert pig to werepig, kill it to make another one.
Spoiled is not worth it, it gets weaker than spear.

wiki says day 9 it's the same strength as a spear and its perish time is 10 so i'd throw it when it spoils.
