How to craft elegant items?

Having a hard time figuring out how do you get elegant items. I know for sure you can craft them, and they can drop. I understand that they are super rare if droped, but if you craft spiffy items, what are chances of elegant drop?

Trade Inn:
-9 "commons" for 1 "classy"
-9 "classy" for 1 "spiffy"
-9 "spiffy" for 1 "distinguished"
-Elegants CANNOT be gained through the Trade-Inn by trading in 9 Distinguished.

Actually, you CAN skip quality of an item with a small chance when tradeinning.
For example, recently, I've been trying to trade common items in hopes of getting a winter's feast chest (they replace classy), but I got a spiffy.
Oh, and I have a friend who uses trade inn a lot and he definitely received elegant drops from it.

What I was putting was what was "guaranteed".

Yep, you could get super lucky and be one of the extremely low percentage of people that receive an Elegant (whether in-game or at the Trade Inn).

He wondered if there was a way to "craft" one, and there isn't.

Just keep enjoying the game, and one day, you might just get one. :)
