Best area to look for a rock den?

my sisters and I have been playing don't starve together and have collected the items necesary to make most of the pets that you can find in the rock den /on accident mostly tbh/, but we haven't been able to find the den itself no matter where we look?

does anyone know what biome these structures would normally spawn in?

Depends how old your map is. If you made a new map after the pet update then the rock den should be in a mosaic biome. If you continued an old map which was made before the pet update the rock den can basically be ANYWHERE in the overworld. Just keep looking and you might find it :p

it's a new map, we started it up just a few days ago. thanks for the help! we'll keep an eye out for it while in those biomes especially.
