Tips for categorizing chests?
What are some good categories for chests/how do you organize yours?

I like to make couple of rooms.
:dsham: Room for stones, gold, flint, wood, grass, twigs, silk... - common stuff needed to craft almost everything in game.
:dsham: Room with valuable stuff like gears, gems, loot from giants...
:dsham: Room without chests but with signs: Tam'o shanters, armors, weapons, tentacles...
:dsham: Room with trash like tooths, feathers, stings...

Hm seems like a good start, I might branch off into more specific categories, but I do like seperate rooms for them
I usually have 3 of the modified Storm Cellar chests.
One for equipment. Hats, weapons, etc.
One for "common" building items. Grass, Twigs, Wood, Stone, etc.
One for everything else.

The one for everything else tends to fill up on older worlds, so I just build another for the same stuff.

- Basic materials #1: Flints, Grass, Twigs (if only few, merge with #2)
- Basic materials #2: Wood, Rock, Gold (if only few, merge with #1)
- Special-use (but still kinda basic-ish) materials: Reeds, Nitrite, Charcoal, Gears, ...
- Farming/Poop chest: Manure, Guano, Rot, Glommer stuff, ...
- Clothing and/or healing: Silk, Wool, Pig Skin, Gland, ...
- Combat/Magic #1: Teeth, Shards, Stingers; Gems; Feathers
- Combat/Magic #2: Nightmare Fuel, Beard Hair, ... (maybe Nitrite/Charcoal here because Gunpowder)

Tools and clothing items I tend to drop outside for quickly have an overview over these and/or grabbing them "on the fly". People sometimes forget there are certain tools or clothing items available and craft them anew, which might deplete certain resources more than necessary (like silk and stuff).

So I have come to organizing my chests atm this is what I have:
The categories (name - whats inside) and what is on the minign in front of them is usually the theme of the chest, or what is mostly inside of it.

Wood - Logs, Pinecones, Charcoal, Ashes
Flint - Flint, Moonrock, Nitre, Gunpowder
Rocks - Rocks, Cut Stone
Gold - Gold, Glommer Goop
Grass - Grass, Reeds, Rope, Papyrus
Twigs - Twigs
Gems - Gems, Feathers, Hound's Teeth
Manure - Manure,, Guano, Rot, Bone Shards
Spider - Silk, Glands, Nest, Living Log, Nightmare Fuel
Fur - Beefalo Wool, Beard Hair, Bunny Puff, Pig Skin

Stuff such as Gold having it's own chest is because of the surplus I have from trinkets.

I realize I will eventually, (obviously), need more room for everything, since my spider drop chest is doubling as a nightmare/monster chest, and how I will eventually get more colors of gems, which will need it's own chest like feathers, and probably duplicates of the chests incase I want to stockpile on Wood, Stones/Flint, etc.

EDIT - These are not all of my chests, just the ones I have found a way to organize, currently I have tools scattered about my base and clothing in misc chests.
