2. Make and carry water balloons.
Not a response but a preventative:
3. Make a lightning rod.
2. Ice flingomatic
3 water ballons
Other than that, Ice, Ice Staff and Water Balloons can be used to put out fires on other areas that might be of interest, but not enough to build an Ice Flingomatic on.
Another option that hasn't been mentioned is the Luxury Feather, which puts out fires in a decent area around you. It requires Down Feathers to craft, which are dropped by Moose Goose, but if you don't want to fight a Moose Goose, you can try killing some of the Moslings, or try to use groups of mobs to kill her.
There's also one more recent addition which is the Fire Pump, which can be built in a boat and operated to shot water bubbles. I don't know how reliable this is though, since i haven't used it myself.
Edit: Whoops, now that Yeti mentions, i also didn't notice this thread is 4 years old :P
Once you get far away enough from a fire it stops, presumably to stop the entirety of your map from burning down during summer, when you can't do anything about it.
You can use it to your advantage, if you don't think of it as cheatin', or don't care.
I didn't seem to notice that this thread is 4 year old.. lol.Oh well.
