Best late game characters ??

well thats the question ?? i play a lot DS-RoG whit Wigfrid (my personal favorite) but i plan to take a long play solo in this version of the game, any advice ??

Overall there isn't a best character for long plays since you get extremely op later on but top picks are wx-78, wolfgang, wikkerbottom, and basically any other character that isn't op from the start due to resource constraints. though personally I'd pick webber, since you get tons of spiders everywhere, that and I'm going to start leading spider queen convoys to the ruins when I get the chance.

Wigfrid is very good early game, and in groups, but Wolfgang easily beats her late game.

Wolfgang has higher stats than her (on a full belly, at least) and has a higher damage multiplyer (again, fully fed). Wigfrid's armour and spear become useless late game.

WX is a very good character late game. While a bit underpowered at the beginning, he can be upgraded to a whopping 400 health, 200 hunger, and 300 sanity, which pretty much makes his downsides redundant.

Wilson is a good pick, being balanced throughout the entire game and can also grow a magestic beard, which is a plus.

Wickerbottom is good, with her books unique to her. Though she requires a different playstyle to most other characters.

Woodie is good (bite me) with his axe which is useful throughout the game. His werebeaver form has night vision, which, if played right, can be useful to explore the undergrounds and ruins, at the cost of boatloads of sanity (which isn't all that needed in the ruins anyways).
Woodie isn't bad. He just requires a very different (and a bit wreckless) playstyle to the other characters.

But really the best character to play is the one you feel most comfortable with. You could make any character the best endgame if you play it right. So if you wanna play Wigfrid, go and be the best ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Wigfrid you can be.

If you play alone and want to rule the world, Wickerbottom is the best.

yeah you are definetly going to explore the ruins without being able to pick up items,no defense,attack less than spear and being insane when going out of the ruins
deltrays don't listen to him
since you are playing alone your best choice is wolfgang

why?
my main is wx78 and he is realy good but first i always play with wickerbottom in the team so i become overcharged and his downside is that he loses 2 gear upgrades when he is dead and you will die beacause you will have to deal with deerclops,ruins,other bosses,swamp and more
wolfgang is eating lots of food-actually it's not that much in normal form and he have damage bonus in this form too and you are solo then you have food
high max hp-150 to 300 depending on your hunger
a bit faster sanity drain-easily restored by garland and top hat and
and of course the extremly high dmage to farm bosses solo

I mean explore, as in scout out. As in look for potential things to pick up. To know where to go when you actually explore.
The shadow monsters aren't a probelm if you know how to deal with them.

then they are 100 times easier when you are playing as normal character
and EXPLORING the ruins-well let's divide the ruins to 2 parts:
1 part:a few shadow monsters around,almost nothing happening in nightmere phase,bad drops
2 part:insane in nightmere phase,all the thulicite,science machines,gems are here
so when you are exploring you are looking for 2 part right?
and you can do it with no risk with normal characters too
and in 2 part you are dead as woodie and getting tons of drops as others

also this post is about best SOLO LATE GAME character and woodie is definetly not this type
so you have those pluses or not pluses in woodie and in wickerbottom you have tons of grass/twigs/berries and more as wx78 super op stats and as wolfgang super damage

wolfgangs sanity loss is the same as woodie(beaver sanity loss)
wolfgang have super high hp max,damage,hunger is not draining so fast
woodie have only his beaver form that players are not sure if that's a plus or a con
because he is having both low damage,defense and sanity in beaver form and just night vision that you can get by the miner hat with a log suit equiped and easily light it back up with the lightbulbs

with this way of thinking you can say also that the best is wendy to farm frogs or maxwell to farm wood

Yes I watched that video. It was very flawed. He only considered his favourite playstyle (or the "most effective") when rating the characters, which caused some characters to be rated much lower than they should be.
I would not consider Edgy Rick a reliable source at all, expecially in this case. He can be very biased at points.
