I keep the most important things on me at all times. Mostly because of griefers, thieves and greedy noobs. This stuff not being smashed/burned up in flames is a bonus.
Deerclops can spawn in caves.
does deerclop loose his target (me) if hes lured away, from base?
I saw a scale chest, but does this item exist in DST ?
you can put around some lamps or fire pits (if you can waste some rocks) to turn on before/at night. if youre really good/fast/have decent teammates you can lay out an area with traps and fire pits and/or lamps. deerclops always comes at a specific day i think although i dont have a mod that tells me when exactly i guess you could plan accordingly.
deerclops should let go off you if you get some distance to him. he is easily aggroing on other creatures too. but don't lure him to any you put effort into getting to your base. if you lured a herd of beefalos into a pen i doubt you want deerclops switch aggro on those, cause they won't stand a chance.
having several lamps/fire pits around may also help you have some fighting space for when hounds arrive, unless you wanna lure them to other mobs to kill them for you. you should always have a lamp or a miner's helmet or something like that in your inventory (i try to have both, because in spring/summer i need umbrella in my hands) anyway because trying to get a torch crafted with hounds or the likes on your tail may get you killed. sure did get me.
believe they mean let him break trees until a tree guard spawns.
Do that living tree can stand VS deerclop? its immortal kombat fatalities :D
Is that new?
