Or is this from one of the "rips" of the SWG Engine heard about after the game went completely south after the "New Game Enhancement"?

It is not built on the SWG engine. Repop is a very different game from SWG. It shares a lot of similarities. It targets the same type of audience as a pre-NGE SWG. But while it has many similar features, they are often approached in different ways.

I think that's important to note to new players. Many of our players are SWG fans, and many players can see a lot of similarities between the two. But you should also understand going in that this is not an SWG clone.

While it uses Hero Engine, don't let yourself compare this game to SWTOR. For all intents and purposes, it feels completely different.

..at the same time this COULD just be what everyone expected of SWTOR

At this point if there was a game that had all the sandbox elements of the original SWG when they released jump to light speed, but without the Star Wars, i would be interested in a game like that.
