Confusion over the music.
I know I may be in the minority here, but did anyone else feel like the SPG songs felt a little out of place in this game somehow?

All the other music was absolutely gorgeous (the tracks without lyrics), each one a compelling treat which really set the mood and tone of the game.

Then you beat a boss or enter a bar and suddenly there's these sharp vocals, where no other spoken words are featured anywhere else in the game.

Did anyone else find it kind of strange?

To clarify: I'm not trying to bad-mouth the band or say their tracks in this game are bad. I'm just wondering if they were a little confusing to anyone else.

I should also mention I'm on my third playthrough of the game because I love it that much.

It is kinda out of place. I mean you have the robot voices, and then those perfect humanly songs.

I didnt mind the vocal ones, I just wish they didnt always start from the beginning of the track each time you enter a bar- you basically hear the same 20 seconds of each song over and over and thats it

Yea that's a good point too!
They are for sure out of place, but it's cool that the dev's went to the trouble to create vocal tracks just for the game. Feels like getting a free album with your purchase

I personally liked that. It provided a change in the atmosphere whenever entering space bars.
And the ones playing upon beating end of act bosses were pretty cool too since it's kind of a big moment of relief and satisfaction and you just want to sing and dance. Though I would've picked maybe more upbeat songs for some of them. The one that plays upon beating the Red Queen was perfect IMHO. I'd personally have the same kind of emotion and pacing for the others.

Old Post respnse time: I guess it depends on how much you listen to SPG-some of the songs are just their normal songs, but re-done in a style more fitting the game soundtrack. It's a bit jarring as a couple of them are some of their best songs, and they just sound different. And I'm pretty sure they did all the music for the game. I mean...the game fits the bands whole gimmick of being steam-powered robots on stage. I might be biased being a fan of the band though (without being "steampunk"...these games and SPG are about as far into it as I get, and will recommend The Vice Quadrant albums as top tier. The Cog Is Dead and Professor Elemental are worth a listen if anyone's intrigued by the music, all three have collaborated on songs together.)

Hey man, OP here.

Yea I totally get it - it's less the style of music and more the fact that it has lyrics.

The whole game every time someone talks it's all clunks and boops - then you have these sharp vocals in clear english.

That's really all I was trying to say. :)

I personally can't stand them. I think SPG is lame. But that's just me. It felt shorhorned into the game(s) and don't fit well at all. Plus SPG had not one, but two members get kicked out of the band for being creeps with their fans. BOOOO, get off the stage! Put the non-vocals music back on!
