My lazer sight is missing from my pistol on my main character, what do i do?

Did you equip a different gun? The laser sight is tied to the type of gun equipped, not the character.

Only "Sharpshooter" weapons have a laser sight. Also, it will say "Laser Sight (Long)" or something like that at the bottom of the description box.

ok, I must have sold my weapon or something because I dont see that gun as an option.
I only have the pistol and the hand shogun?

You probably did, you can drop a new one or buy one from the shop.

Piper's default gun is also a Sharpshooter, but its crummy stats make it useless after the early parts of the game.

I just started playing the game, but I think you cannot sell the default gun. Your character will use the default gun if nothing is equipped on top during the setup phase. That' is why it probably doesnt appear in your inventory.
