I use a XBOX 360 Controller with the mac driver and it allows me to control the mouse too. Controller is best for me!

I say you test it yourself, I have a controller, and personally, I find some parts easier with space, some (most) with mouse and some with controller. So everyone has their opinion, some bigger youtubers (Merg, bloodbath maker) use mouse while some controller, some use both (EricVanWilderman). I hope I helped! :D :)
