Buggy trail

Hello, so for some time now i've had a trail bug where the trail kinda has a hacky animation and not a smooth one (Hard to explain).

I've been experimenting with the game to try to find out a solution to the problem and i found one solution which was to turn off Vertical sync.. But by turning that off my FPS decreases which feels uncomfortable while playing.

Is there anyone who know how to fix a glitchy trail while keeping vertical sync on?

Does the game lag for you? That's the only thing i can think of that causes it other than hacks.
