C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\GeometryDash EMPTY
i'm on Windows 10. I have tried launching GD, and every time it asks if it can change the files on the PC. I click yes, it runs for 3 seconds, and closes. I check my folder as said in the title to find it empty. it's not supposed to be empty! I changed compability, reinstalled redist, etc. nothing. Any ideas on why C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\GeometryDash is empty?

Driver Version: 15.200.1062.1002
Release Date: 2015-07-15
File Size: 273.5M
Supported OS: Windows 10 64 bit

Once it's downloaded do a clean install if that option is available. (It might be under avanced install options) It's normal to see the screen flicker or go wierd during driver installs. Even if it doesn't fix the problem (It most likely wont) it's still good to have the latest drivers installed on your computer.

AppData is where your downloaded songs are saved to not where the game is installed. (So it's okay for it to be empty) If your looking for where the game installed it depends where the game has been installed. (If you have multiple hard drives/SSD's) Geometry Dash is most likely installed here: Local Disk, Program Files (x86), Steam, steamapps, common, Geometry Dash. If the game is not loading you could try right clicking the game, (on your Steam games list) clicking properties then local and then clicking on verify integrity of game cache. If your missing any files then it will redownload those missing files. If this doesn't help then tell me and I might be able to help more.
Go onto steam and right click the GD tab (Not the play button) then click back up game files

Did you reinstall gd? and if that didn't work, I can't help you. Worse things I've had was steam never starting so I just restarted my computer ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
right click the shortcut, select properties, go onto compatability, turn compatabiolity mode on and set the compatability mode to something else, open GD, close Gd then turn compatability mode off. Red universe has a better explaination on his youtube

Have you tried launching the game from GeometryDash.exe in the steam game files? If you right click it and go to compatibility you could try troubleshoot, set to run in windowed with 640 by 800 (dont remember if thats the exact resolution) and enable run in administrator.

Does every other game work fine? You could also make do a clean install of the latest graphics drivers. Since I don't know exactly whats going on it's kind of hard to sort out computer problems by typing and not seeing the problem yourself. All I'm doing is going off of what I know.

Try verifying the integrity of the game cache

Well this may not fix the issue but if you want to reinstall graphics drivers the there are a few things I need to know.

1. Are you using Windows 10 32 or 64bit?
2. Are you using a laptop or desktop?
3. What graphics card do you have? For example NVIDIA, Radeon graphics or intergrated graphics.

Even if it doesn't fix the problem updating graphics drivers will usually give you better performance in games.

I also want to know how its crashing. Does it crash on the loading screen? Does it come up with a window telling you that it reqires something for it to run?

One thing you could try is deleting all the files in AppData/Local/GeometryDash. If there is any files or songs in there you could try deleting them.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

If it says Geometry Dash has stopped working then it may be the drivers. I also found this in a Geometry dash guide.

My game won't launch!
This is a very common problem, happens especially to people who have enjoyed this game for a while.

When I press play, absolutely nothing happens:
If you press play, and nothing happens, steam shows that you are playing for 3 seconds and the returns to normal state. No error message, nothing.
This is most likely a problem with your save file. Here's how to fix this!

1. Enable hidden folders (AppData folder is hidden)
Open control panel
Search for "folder"
Open folder settings/options page
Go to "show" tab
Scroll down until you see "Hidden files and folders"
Make sure "Show hidden files and folders" is enabled
2. Locate C:\Users\Your name\AppData\Local\GeometryDash
3. Backup and delete CCGameManager.dat and CCGameManager.dat.bak
4. Open game
5. Load older saves from cloud

When I press play, game crashes and "Geometry Dash has stopped working" pops up!
This is likely caused by faulty drivers or corrupted game files.
Possible fixes:

1. Reinstall Geometry Dash
2. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Geometry Dash\_CommonRedist\vcredist and install all the files in folders "2010" and "2013".
3. Update your graphics card drivers (or if they are up to date try downgrading them)
4. Update your windows
5. Delete some random folders and files inside Geometry Dash directory, like "fonts"
6. Put "-windowed" in steam start options
7. Wait for update 2.1

Theres a good chance that the drivers are messed up if your getting messages about it. Have you tried downloading and installing the new drivers?
JS19000 Jul 30, 2016 @ 5:55pm
and I'm assuming that you have tried deleting every single file in the Geometry Dash file in AppData? If you do that it will reset the game and you will lose your progress but it might fix it. (You can always back up from your account if you have one)

Do you have anything like this installed on your computer (check by going to programs and features) http://imgur.com/a/WnsW4

If you uninstalled some of them or there not there you could try downloading them...
https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/download/details.aspx?id=40784
Click download and choose x64 and x86.

I'm really starting to run out of ideas... Also I should have asked this first but has the game worked previously on that computer? If so maybe you changed something or uninstalled something important?????
