Have you tried to verify game files? If you did and it didn't work, maybe your save data is corrupted. A corrupted save data will prevent the game from opening at all. Even restarting your PC and reinstalling GD won't fix it. Because it has no affection with the save data that is located in C:\Users\(YourPCName)\AppData\Local\GeometryDash. If you uninstalled the game, it won't remove the save data that's located there. You have to back it up to somewhere else and then remove the save data (which is named CCGameManager.dat, CCGameManager.dat.bak, CCLocalLevels.dat and CCLocalLevels.dat.bak). That will reset the game back to where you first installed it in your PC. If the game finally works, you can login and load your account (only if you save your data frequently).
NOTE: this info was not created by me but it helped me with the same problem!
Emiloogi I hope this helps you

1. A common cause of this is because of the savefiles being damaged. This can happen to anyone at anytime. You can use online tools to fix them, or choose to delete the .dat files, you can find them at
...AppData\Local\Geometrydash
(you may want to do a backup of these in case it doesn't helps)

2. A different possible solution is to change the compatibility settings. On steam, right click the game logo, then go to
properties > Local files > browse local files
Once you're on the file explorer, right click geometrydash.exe and go to
properties > compatibility
Enable "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select one of the following; Windows 7, Windows 95 or Windows vista. Once you're done, select "apply" then "ok". You can try to run the game again using Steam.

3. One or multiple of your files might be damaged, which can be solved by reinstalling the game. On the steam library, right click the game's icon, go to manage and click on "uninstall". After this, simply reinstall the game by going on it's steam page.

4. Your system components might be outdated. You can update your system by going to
settings > update & security > windows update.
Updating your system should also update your drivers.

5. If there's a .dll error displayed, and reinstalling the game didn't help try to install (or reinstall) windows C++ redistributables. https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=52685. Cracked games have this error oftentimes, the above won't help on that case.:GDEasy:

This is the problem everyone has that I don't know how to fix. My best guess is to run GD alone, with nothing in the background. Tell me if this works.

this solution post is VERY helpful. this goes over multiple issues with the game files and i do like this but it doesnt help me. maybe you can. so i tried the solution where when the game isnt opening you go to your appdata/local/geometrydash folder and delete the ccgamemanager1&2, and cclocallevels1&2 after copying them to a new folder, when i deleted the files from the appdata/local/geometrydash folder, it also deleted them from the new folder i had made for the copied files, but not the folder itself. ever since then those files have never came back no matter what i do (reinstall the game, reinstall steam, hard reset my computer, etc.) other than just saving up to buy a new computer and try it is there any possible way you can help me because i dont want to buy a new pc just for gd, in fact im not going to until i NEED to buy a new pc. but if theres any way you could help id be very appreciative.

also @cleb to answer your question for the last post, that is exactly what i did and what i was told in multiple forums would fix the game. but it didnt. i tried MANY other solutions as well to no avail.
