How do you change the opacity of the ground in certain gamemodes?

I've seen this in CybernistiC by DarwinGD, did lotsa' rsearch yet couldn't find anything. Does anyone know how to make the ground in closed gamemodes (Like the ship, for example.) invisible, just like in Darwin's level? Please answer, thanks! :)
