For all the people calling Newgrounds Musician community "Idiots"

Your being really ignorant.

Before we begin Geometry Dash did not make Newgrounds popular. It has been around for years and it's been fine without it.


The single story most people have of Newgrounds Musician community is that they are stupid and don't realize the fame they are getting when their songs are used.

This may be true that they do get fame from the levels but that DOES NOT justify their songs being used without permission. Also your really not seeing the bigger picture.

Lets talk about the artists
The Musicians spend hours designing and creating music putting a lot of their time out of life doing what they (hopefully) love. A lot of the artists feel that when their music is taken without their permission to be used in a level, it changes their songs into a commodity where it isn't art but an instrument to create their level.

And lets be honest after a level do we think

"Wow what a great song that really worked well with the level,I think I should check out the artist!"

or

"What a well developed level.[Level creator name] really knows how to put a level together!"

Hell even the small compliments,

We ususally say just "I liked the music"

And tend to say "I really liked the part in the level when..."

We rarely think of the song when after playing a level and we focus and praise the level creator. Tell me,how many of you actually check the artist after a level.



Now this leads to the actual money making process. What many people don't realize is that artist on Newgrounds do make money,from Ad-Revenue . When you listen,watch or play someones game on Newgrounds and they have joined the Revenue program they will be payed because they are bringing traffic to their media, and around that media are ads.

You might say you still have to go to the site to get the id for the song but you know what you can do? Go to an already existing level that uses the song,download the song,go to the level creator and you can pick the song from the saved songs folder. No going to the site necessary.

We'll get more into this after the next argument

"But they still can get popularity from the level!"



And then their are these people who complain that artists still get credit and a bit of fame so their are no downsides other than being used without permission.



Well in the artist's eyes that may be very different.
If they are an extremely popular Musician because of Geometry Dash then that might hurt their career.

Is a company going to create a contract with a very good musician that was found from Geometry dash or a musician who has a large fanbase?


Their going to pick the musician that is not associated with Geometry dash,because geometry dash level creation is a very beat,tempo and some other third thing related game. The company might believe that the Geo Artist only creates niche music for one role while the non Geo Artist can be flexible creating multiple types and genres of music. Geometry dash might HINDER their career possiblities.

So the artist might request for their song to not be able to be used in Geometry Dash that might tick of people who feel they should have the right to use someone elses content for their five minutes of fun.

They might start pressing or harassing the artist to unrestrict songs for geometry dash. They feel cheated because they don't get what they want.

Some people even go out of their way to record or download the song to reupload the song to Newground on a new account so they can use it. This takes a lot of the traffic from the artist to the reupload account. Taking away possible revenue from the original content creator.



With both of these arguments down we can get to the real issue at hand. This is a real issue that can ♥♥♥♥ over both games if it's not dealt with.


Because copyright exists, people will be able to sue Newgrounds because of little ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reuploaded their content. Then you know whats ♥♥♥♥ed? Both Newgrounds and Geometry Dash.





So yeah, the Newgrounds community aren't being childish,immature,idiots or pissy. They genuinely ♥♥♥♥ing care for their community and site ,and don't want another community who are blind to what there doing to take it away from them.


Taking Geometry Dash off the store restricts the possiblity of people reuploading music from popular companies which lowerers the risk of a lawsuit.

So thats all.

I think you're right, but it's kind of unfair, they should've talked with RobTop to do something about it, but they acted like immature childs and reported the game just because they wanted it down.

Literally just have 3 buttons yes or maybe later or never.

Although it would really spam them with mail so there would have to be like a 6 month delay.
1 month might be way to fast and annoying for creators.

I completely respect the music creators from newgrounds, but the problem can be solved whit some addons into the game to give more credit to the creators and also some payment for the songs in game.

Also RobTop should be able to understand that what he is doing is not all right and he should do something about it.

Geometry Dash has changed the type of music i truely desired. Ever since the choice of custom music added into the game, ive noticed the existence of newgrounds and changed my taste of amazing, top-notch artists like the fat rat, xtrullor, panda eyes, f-777 and hundreds more with their music to die for. It's been my biggest experience in all of geometry dash to find new types of music and artists which i always paid full attention to them among anything else in the game. It's always satisfied me aswell as the game. Its two amazing things that bind together to make a wonderful piece of work for robtop and the artists (from newgrounds and beyond).
