Change the difficulty to EASY from the bottom of the Statistics window.

When in combat, LOCK on a target ( default is R key = lock attacker ) and MATCH speed ( default is PageDown key ). The targeted ship will stay on the screen longer giving you more chances to land hits.

If you feel the game difficulty is unbalanced, CHEAT. Use the ~ tilda key and type BillGates and enter. This give 100K credits. Purchase a Medium Fighter, upgrade the level of your weapons, shield, jammer and purchase a 2nd gun ( cannon ) that is different from the starting gun* and extra missiles. Mount the 2nd gun and missiles. Purchase the SNIPING TOOL**.


* Each weapon does different amounts of damage to the 5 types of armor and shields. From the Trade window at a Station, click on a weapon, and hover over the weapon in the lower-left corner to see the damage effects. ( If the Type does not say Primary Weapon or Projectile, the device is not a weapon that can be mounted on your ship. )

** Default NumberPad 4 cycles between the mounted guns. Default X key zooms. Default , comma key cycles the firing mode between Normal, Short Burst, single/high damage sniper shot.
