Yes, it was not fun... I wanted to learn new skills, even if I didn't need it. But there is a lot of obvious choices in this game to make it balanced, even if it's less fun.
Notice that with a specific adanced skill, when your hero meets another lower hero, this one get 15% experience (I think) from the first hero. When I tried with a hero level 30 and a hero level 1, I got directly a hero level 20! So, it's easy to make an army of super heroes. ;) (Furthermore, this special skill allows you to learn all spells from the higher hero.)
PS: Even in Heroes 3, there was a level cap! But I never reach it, indeed... I think it was something like 108? it's fun, but I must admit that it's pretty easy when you are really stronger than any other hero on the map.
PS2: I dont know if there will be a level cap in Heroes 7 final version for map scenario, of course.
the teaching skill is a standard skill that has been around for a long time.
So my suggestion is: Just put an activate/deactivate option in the settings of the game ("Gameplay") and let the player make the choice. Then everybody can decide for his/her own, if he/she want to cap the level or not.
Really? How? I take a look at the official editor of the game, but didn't find anything to remove the cap. Perhaps you can share your knowledge how to mod this?
The game really would be a better one, if there would be no level cap.
It's only limited in the Map Editor GUI. So you can go into Unreal Mode, and then View-> World Properties -> World Info -> My Map Info -> Map Player Properties -> Player Properties. There you can adjust the Max Level for each Player
Note there are currently no bounds checks, so if someone enters -3245 we cannot guarantee that the game still works
Hope that helps. Happy modding.
This walktrough just alter the level cap for one specific map, right? That's for itself would be no problem, but unfortunately you can't load existing original maps in the editor, in order to modify them (with the changed level cap for example). If I try to load an existing map of the original game (even if I copy it first and give it another name), I just get the message, that this is a cooked map - and nothing will be loaded.
So only complete self-made maps (which are kind of difficult to make) can have a modified level cap. Could you please change this, so that the community can work on original maps too? Or is there already a way to do this, which I didn't see? Concrete example: I'd like to change the level cap in the skirmish map "Savage Sea". Is this possible?
I don't have a problem with "map-based-modding", but I'd like to have the possibility to mod the original maps in order to use a modfied (or canceled) level cap on them. Without this, the whole "modding of the cap"-thing don't make much sense.
So I hope there is a way to change the level cap on original maps like "Savage Sea" or "Dried Lands".
