No city conversion?
I really wanted that game. So much. And now I have read there is no city conversion.

Why?

Could you not make it an optional feature so players can decide or not to have it in the game (single and multiplayer)...

This is the one and only reason I will not get that game. Makes me really sad because I looked forward for it. But I do absolutly not like to be forced to use different factions.

Devs: Please consider to bring at least an optional city conversion for all game types (including campaign) into this game...

yeah city conversion would be amazing but its not a deal breaker. in beta i learned that it actually also has advantages because you are forced to create armies of different races that way and can learn those different races in one go. i still would like to have city conversion but i can live without it now that i tested this in beta.

Yeah sure you might learn something etc. but I dont want to be "forced". It should be optional. And for me it is in fact one big and important point of any game. So sadly this one will be nothing for me :(

either way is fine although I expect removing this option will make the game more interesting. if u make it an in game option, then its not an option at all as everyone who does not want to be disavantaged will use it. If u made it a pre game option then it would make it harder to balance the game. With a bit of effort they could have included it in the difficulty settings

They could just include it now. At the beginning of a game you select if it is enabled or not. Goes for single player as well as multiplayer. So whoever wants forced play can disable it and play the game like he wants, and whoever wants to stay one - factioned can enable it.

I would get the game then asap.

city.conversion="True"

That's literally all the code they need! /s

Haha I think they have to make a bit more then that but since they are so "proud" of not having it I have no hope it will come. Bad luck for me then and one sold game less for them.

Maybe the will read this and I get any answer if it will come at some time or not ^^

If you are looking for the City conversion feature then you might like "Age of Wonders 3".
I played Age of Wonder 2 a while back in which I converted many Cities suits to my needs.

I rather liked the idea of the town (and forts and dwellings) conversion. But, in H6 it was far too cheap and easy.

It ought to be a major financial hit at least.

I have the feeling that there was a concerted effort in the development of H7 to go as far away from H6 as they could given all the disappointments surrounding that game.

Town conversion (too cheap and easy), Tears/Blood (not nearly developed enough), Sanctuary faction, Dynasty Traits, Dynasty Weapons were all at least pretty good ideas that got lost as a result. Having said that, I think the only one of the H6 innovations that has any kind of chance to return is the Sanctuary faction.

Personally, I pretty much hate all of those. Not as much as the incredibly precise AI that was stupidly difficult to exterminate because it knew exactly how far your heroes could move. Also not as much as the incredibly aggressive and cheating AI who could at all times see through fog of war and would beeline for your capital as soon as it had a hero with a stronger army than your defenders. Basically, the extremely inhuman AI in VI was what completely ruined that game for me, but the other "innovations" didn't help.

City conversion was super OP. It removed all diversity of forces from a game and allowed ridiculous levels of power concentration into single heroes.

I play thate game, yes :)

For me its just a personal thing. I don´t like multi faction at all. When I play demons, I want to conquer the world with a demon army!

And just consider it... you start as lets say a demon and then have elves on your side fighting and conquering their own realm... uhm yes, sure...

I get it, Heroes 7 will not have the feature, so thats bad luck for me.

At least they could have made it as an optional thing. Everyone could decide for himself to use or not to use it.

So for the hardliners: What disadvantages would you have, when someone can put that optional thing on and play campaign that way and enjoys it while you can just let it disabled and have your optimal gameplay?

That´s the reason for optional settings. Play like you want and let others play their way.

so this is the other way to look at it...you can play other factions you take over or just guard with them...i dont understand what you mean....do you need more troops in your army??? i dont get why that is even needed, unless you need to slaughter every senario, etc.

As I said its a pesonal thing. I guess every faction has its own campaign anyway. So I want to play every faction. But when they force you to multi faction, they could do as well one grand campaign without any faction story etc. since its just totally unrealistic that you follow a story (for example demons invade your realm, or you invade someones realm) and then every single unit follows you anyway.

I stick with my opinion. It should have been optional. So everyone could have the gameplay like he/she wants it. You want to play your campaign with multi faction and enjoy having dozens of different units? Then do it, have fun with it, enjoy the game and be happy.

But why not let people like me have the same fun? As long as no one will force you to play "my way", why do you want to force me to playa "your way"?

They could for sure have done that as an optional feature.

But I hated that all the time. Those mixed armies... args.... and then you can´t reinforce them with own troops etc.

I remember one Heroes, I think it was 5, there I started to play a demon campaign. From story it was like "demons invade elven realm". Then all I could get was elven cities. And I sat there and thought "WTF? I am demon, I invade you, but now I play elves and use elven troops to kill your elves? Aha... yeah.. could as well have started the elven campaign then.."

Know what I mean?

i understand what you are saying but homm7 dosent force you too mix troops at all...sometimes you might want to add shooters to get you by for a moment but really...i beat every campaign with that faction....except for ivan...he sucks...lol
