Are you propelrly connected in a "Home" network?

Press Win+E, and see if the other computer is avaible under "Network"

Are you playing Trough a router/Switch/hub, or directly trough a ethernet cable?
Poelzi Nov 5, 2015 @ 9:09am
well we see each other computer in the network...and we are playing over router

I havent tried to Lan in this game yet, you might be requiered to set up a Homegroup.

Anyway I would try the simplest first, It rarly solves the problem but in some cases it does.
Thats simply to turn off any firewalls and restart the router. (It might have messed up when assigning IP adresses), remember to let the router "rest" for atleast 20 seconds before turning it back on.

Other than that try setting up a Homegroup between the computers.

For earlyer win versions im shure you are able to google it ;)

seems the thing with the homegroup might be the right direction for the problem ^^..cauz my Pc is not able to join nor to create a homegroup :/

Yeah, setting up a homegroup on diffrent and especally older OS's can be a hassle somethimes, sadly I cant really help you any more than any guide on the net are able to, as I havent done it that many times (Not without a headace atlest :p)

Hopefully someone with more experience on the topic can pop in here and assist you on the mather.

(Might be helpful if you specify what OS the 2 of you are Running though)

we are both running windows 10 ... so it should be easy to set up ...but there seems to be an error in my windows i can not find (not so far)..and also windows can not repair...maybe time for an clean install o0 (it is an updated win 8.1 to 10 and thru diffrent bullds to the last insider build of windows) but thx for the idea...so far the only reason i can think of why it is not working..thought oder things work normal on the network
Poelzi Nov 5, 2015 @ 3:23pm
well there was just a new build released :) maybe that helps befor i start to do a clean install,,much less work involved from my side xD

Trowing out guesses here, but did the windows installation install new Chipset-drivers?
If so you might want to go to the Motherbord manifacturers homesite and see if they got any updatet drivers... Highly doubhtful though, but you might get lucky.

Not all of those Generic windows drivers are that great....
Poelzi Nov 5, 2015 @ 3:45pm
the only driver which could be a problem would be the network driver in my opinion..but everything else is working ..no prob with internet or with everything else in network...only with homegroup and heroes ..and for my wlan adapter there is not even a build in driver in win 10 ..its too new even for windows 10...well i will let windows update over night ..lets see if this makes a diffrence...this is even a build which wil be released to public next week..so it should work or there is a problem deep in my windows files...
Poelzi Nov 5, 2015 @ 5:07pm
windows does not let me set up a homegroup at all (well it let me but it is not working, does not even let me change the password) when it is setup at the other Pc i can join but it is also not working ( i can not see files nor can the other see my files, thought it works if we do it with "normal" sharing folders, i can also see and use the printers and scanners)

the build in fixit tool does find nothing...
to went into C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Roaming\PeerNetworking and delete all of the files in this folder does not help either (well i will try this again after update to new build)
on the other computer also on windows 10 setting up homegroup works without problem...
so maybe there was an problem with the windows updating
why there is only a problem with Heroes of Lan ...no idea (can´t remember if we tried other games and normaly we do not use homegroups) but tha it can have something to do with homegroups no working seems likely...at least the only thing not working on my side...that we are on diffrent builds should not be the problem..the other pc is on build 10240 of windows 10 ( release version) and i am on build 10576 and tomorrow on 10586 which is very possible the version which will be released to public as windows update 1...
well and i found no problems in the forums in gemerel with homegroups..but with so many files being updated there can be something going wrong (cortana seems also to have a problem since 3 updates ago but i don´t think thats related to heroes ^^)
but i think your idea with homegroups might be a good one ..thx ^^ .. i would never have checked this

reinstalling windows and working homegroup did not help at all :/

Hello its 2023 and just bought the game on my wife steam account so that we can play LAN. It doesn't even see the other game. And online, although it sees the game, the ubisoft server say it's unresponsive. tried creating from both PC's online and lan. same problem, ♥♥♥♥♥ ubisoft.

Hello buzleapaul,

Thanks for reaching out.

Sorry to see you've been having issues connecting to eachother.

Please could you ensure that you've completed all of the steps in our guide a try[www.ubisoft.com], especially Port Forwarding?

As we aim to keep the forums up to date and current, please also consider opening your own thread over reviving an old, inactive one in future.

Thank you for your understanding!

Hello Support,

Before writing this, I did all those steps as I found this on ubisoft website both TCP and UDP ports ( TCP: 13000, 13005, 13200, 27105 ) are opened on all 3 devices, and none of them sees the other in LAN, just in Online. And found that Online, we cannot play if we all use the same network ( so by making a hotspot and making sure that each PC is connected to a different network, we can play ONLINE mode only, and even there we have some issues with AI where it crashes ( tried to load the game 2-3 days before the crash and do other stuff, but still the AI dies at around 3 months in ). If we could make the LAN game work, it would be perfect.

Using a real LAN or Hamatchi does work sometimes for us but we can never finish a full game. Eventually it'll go out of sync or the AI will take a turn that goes on forever. We try to load into a quick save game before that happens and most of the time the save file doesn't even want to load. ♥♥♥♥ is completely broken and wish they'd fix it or sell the damn IP or a class action pops up. Ubi Connect is busted and it seems they have no intention of ever fixing. I've owned every single HOMM since 2 and love them dearly but I will try my best to get people to never buy into this franchise as long as they don't fix this ♥♥♥♥
