Don't know, I will post after each patch until it is fixed or I get an offical response.
A development team has precisely zero obligation to assist you via the Steam forum.
hm.. good for you but its not that fantastic for everyone :( i'm in the same situation and i hate the sound volume.. i'm still waiting for a fix but right now i'm not sure if this will ever be fixed -.- for me this would be the only major issue/bug (its a major one for me!!) that still remains in this game :(
Ended up with a similar problem untill I disabeld it in the speaker properties...
That and running higher than 32 bit 44k, will have strange effects on some games.
Thanks for the heads up.
alright thank you very much !! uhm i hope you fix those few bugged sound effects too. i mean the superloud ones like firewall, tsunami. because else they will be even louder lol ;)
i'll give a post patch report, most likely in this thread here or in a new one if someone creates another until the patch arrives :D
hey, so you wanted a feedback post patch. uhm i tested it out and actually i didn't really notice anything. it might be slightely better but its still faaar from what it should be comparing it with all other games :( idk if this might be a bug or if you just still didn't up the volume levels enough but its really strange because only heroes 7 is affected by that. bought withcer 3 a few days ago and its also not affected and has normal sound volume levels like all other games too. and its even stranger that nearly all (not all but most) games have the same!! volume levels. it doesn't matter if i play gta5, or witcher 3, or project cars or civ beyond earth, most games have very similar sound levels and the differences on the windows volume level are at around 4-8% at max. i never have to change my windows volume more.
on heroes 7 on the other hand i have to raise the volume at least 20% more then those other games (postpatch).
furthermore the sound effect volume ingame! is still way too loud compared to everything else. postpatch i still have to put the sound effect volume ingame to around 40% or else its way louder then all other aspects of the game like the music, ambiant sounds, voice overs and so on.
somethings definitely strange in terms of soundmixing o_O maybe you should hire someone else for this because the person that did this (ofc i don't know who it was) really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ it up it seems :D :P
edit: BTW, i'm MORE then impressed by the patch otherwise !! i couldn't believe my eyes because it made the game so much better besides the sound issue. the framesync seems to be much better, the loading times are unbelievable (like 5-10 seconds to load the game and the same for loading a map..) and the new saturation is also neat, even though i loved the one before too because it felt more realistic. maybe i just got used to it ^^
oh and the ram consumption is really much better.
I did not want to spam the thread with guesses when the dev said he would look into it anyway.
But as the patch did not fix it, from your description it really sounds like it's trying to play 5.1 surround on stero speakers.... In any case I had a look but it dosent state anywere that this game plays with dolby 5.1 or higher though. So im probably wrong.
The main things I have to raise the volume for is the spoken dialogue and the music.
Spoken dialogue in particular should be much higher perceptually and in actuality as it's focused through the front 3 channels.
EDIT: After firing up the game and checking a few things out, the side/rear speakers aren't activated by the game.
As there's no sound options for the type of audio output in the menu, I'd say the problem for me is that the game doesn't have true 5.1 active. At the moment, it's 2.1 with the center speaker active.
The other strange thing is that I have the 'Speaker fill' option turned on in my master audio settings. What this does is it activates a secondary stereo stream to create surround stereo.
Whether this is consistent for other affected users, I couldn't say at this stage.
