This is one of those "to each his own" type questions.

This time around I like the Necropolis the least, largely because there is only the one shooter.

Dungeon takes quite a while to build up (compared to others).

Haven has never been and likely will never be my favorite but I've also never disliked playing it either.

Weighing everything out, I've got a three way tie - Sylvan, Stronghold and Academy being the ones I play the most.

Well listed necropolis simply cause of the insane amount of skeleton hoplites and ghosts you get since there is no limit on necromancy. I had 15k skeletons when I met my friend in combat, just teleported the lil buggers around the battlefield to kill everything. xD

Hopefully with the next patch I can finish the campaign. I've only played the Sylvan so far. Very cool units that are wicked fast. I played a stand-alone map as Academy & loved the look of their units. The Gargoryle is a decent low-tier unit if you buff them with Stone Skin.
Gargoyle-only army with Academy magic hero, casting Armageddon... :p

You can include Cabirs in that army.

Sylvan, Master Hunter. Impede, Sting and Nature's Luck. Add in some Archery or Storm Arrows and we're looking good.

LOL! I can't believe I forgot that trick, sounds like me and a stack of blk dragons in I think in H4 when I had a AI that was ungodly!!!

necro hands down...5k skeletons and over 2k banshee`s are a killing force...the teleport and ressurrection is incredible with your hero maxed out...by the middle of combat your skeletons will ressurect another 1k by killing creatures....its the same with every heroes game to date.

i can pretty much wipe every faction with necro...i enjoy that faction...lol

Now if only skills like Nature's Luck and that ballista marking thing would actually work all the time... ;)

I'm a bit late to the party, but Haven with Wilhelm is absolutely insane once you get going. Boxing in your archers and buffing the whole gang with the sentinels + inner fire (do this right) and you wont lose any units while traversing the map while killing neutrals.

with 1.7 they nerfed gnolls, nerco, and offensive tree so now ranged units wont get full damage that easily and have to earn it through artifacts and spells like previous games.

but pre 1.7 gnoll and necro spam was pretty godlike.

as for most op i think it might be ivor + slyvan. Get storm arrows and split ur marksman and druids up into multiple stacks. Upgraded faeries are awesome attackers also. Nothing will touch u ever again except maybe hero attacks and spells.

I wouldn't say its Necropolis. Its hands down Stronghold ! How ? Well, even if you had 15k skeletons, if you get the + Centaurs hero, stack them alot, get leadership and attack, you get archery damage + attack, you get to deploy 9 units, therefore split your centaurs, you get the hands for 4 might +1 damage, you get another point of 1 damage from bloodrage and 8 attack, you get to around 60-75 morale and over 50 iniciative on all units. I've done that testing, had 400 centaurs with 1 elite dwelling, while my friend had 5k skeletons. My centaurs where doing 43k hit damage in single stack. Thats why i took the skill to deply 9 units, so i can split and not waste damage. I also used the crossbow for +1 more damage, iniciative and full range on archers. So what happened was, basically, when we started the fight, i had so much iniciative that the 1st 4 units where mine. Both my centaur stacks and gnolls + something that didnt rly matter. 200 Centaurs shoot with all that damage boost ( storm arrows for extra 30 attack , my ranged units had 86 attack ). 1st stack of centaurs shoots, gets luck proc ( destiny at 50 ) kills 1800 skeletons, gets morale, kills another 1000. 2nd centaur does exactly the same thing, and skeletons die. I had 700 gnolls, full range with all the buffs, they luck and morale both time, they kill 90% of his ghosts. From that point there was no point to continue the battle.

Altho we had a nice encounter between Sylvan and Dungeon. He was doing alot better than me in general, but i got teleport with +50 iniciative on teleported unit, and ofcourse i got the hydras. With Dungeon specific skill that says you hit twice if you dont get retalated, with capped destiny, with no retalation on luck proc, and 200% crits, i just ported my hydra in his army, it was her turn, hitted with luck and killed half his army with just that, since the hydra hitted 4 units twice with 200% damage. It was both very fun and painful to watch :D.

I made a custom map, Biggest map possible. Did so each team only could have 1 hero,
I was necro, the rest randoms. Hardest and biggest neutral enemies. 4 ish hours into the game i had over 12k skeletons and 7k ghosts the only unit i had less then 1 k of was ghost dragons.

Hello everyone necro isnt op. Its true that a huge amount of skeletons is strong but its too late.Because before y are able to get a huge amount of ghost or skeletons Academy or dwarfs are going kill y by magic. Magic is overpowered in this game no doubt about it. If someone disagree we could try on 1vs1.
