"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Might & Magic Heroes VII"
you will see a file named "installscript.vdf"
delete it, I'm no pc pro but I think the game uses custom gpu settings that require admin rights to make the changes and if you are playing on a pc that you are flagged as a guest and dont have admin rights, the changes wont be made, deleting the file has no effect on the game
I think it did it on endless space as well
~ Right-click and select properties.
~ Set to 'Run as administrator'
This should then allow the DX and redist package to fully run, with uPlay opening up shortly after.
Who doesn't have a spare 20 Gb floating around these days?
doesn't work. i think its a bug with the vcredist loading every time. my pc is an admin account already (because i'm the only one using it) and i had this vcredist ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ also from the very beginning. i'll try deleting installscript.vdf but your workaround didn't change anything
If so, I then had to set the compatibility to Windows 7 as the last step. Strange, but it worked for me.
~ Activated MMHVII in uPlay using the CD key provided by Steam
~ Reinstalled DirectX using the setup file included in the game directory
~ Updated Windows 7 and reset the PC
~ Ran both the 32bit and 64bit game .exe files after setting admin and compatibility to Win7
~ Allowed the .exe files to pass through Windows Firewall
The firewall is probably your issue if uPlay is connecting fine.
No, these are all things that various games may need in order to run first time, depending on your OS settings and whether your PC is running with all relevant software up to date.
For example, I personally don't let anything through the firewall or update unless I do so manually. Other people may be similarly inclined, thus the extra steps.
As the redist package was the key repeat point, each of the above were possible stumbling blocks. All in all, a grand total of 15 minutes trial and error.
yeah i'm on win7 but actually its not worth all the tweaking. its much easier to just delete the installscript.vdf file ;) it must be bugged anyway because vcredist is installed correctly. i've seen this happen in some games very rarely and i never had any problem with those games. deleting the installscript file is the better way to go in my opinion. if you encounter any problems you can install vcredist manually from the game folder.
