Play Heroes 7 stanrdard vs. H7 Trial by Fire online with friend?

Is it possible to play H7 standard, for example Sylcan against a friend who has Trial by Fire and plays the dwarves? Or can't he choose the dwarves as they are not present in H7 standard?

I haven't tried it so I cannot say on 100% but I think it should be possible as this faction is already in the game data, you can even use it in the map editor. So yes, it should be definitely possible for your friend to play dwarves while you own only H7 vanilla.

If one of you owns the Addon and the other owns Vanilla game you will still be able to play MP together. The addon player, will of course, be limited to addon things. But apart from that there is no difference.

No you can't. It's confirmed. You will get out of sync issues, no matter what.

Both in Default & Trial AND Default & Default? Can you load a saved game and continue playing? Is it possible to save every few turns and in case of out of sync problems you can load the game again?

Sometimes it works to reload a saved game, but out of sync will eventually happen anyway. It's confirmed. Game is broken. Won't be fixed. Let's hope for a refund and maybe Heroes 8 will be playable on release. Probably won't though. I've been through this ♥♥♥♥ for far too long.

But doesn't out of sync just mean "connection lost" like in many multiplayer games? I played a game with a friend yesterday...only 2 weeks but without problems. We'll see how it turns out. If it does not work we have to play couch multiplayer.

Out of sync means that your game differs from your friends in some way, which can lead to the game crashing or a point where no one can do anything (game tells you that it's your friend's turn, but on his screen it says it's your turn.)

It has nothing to do with connection.

How are player vs. player fights handled? I'm playing against a friend and we use Skye while playing. I see him on the map and we can both move...does it turn into an action game who clicks first? What if I ride to him but he reacts more quickly and uses town portal? We both wanted to fight and I attacked him but the mouse turned into the loading icon and I dropped out of his game...connection lost. :(

I don't play SimTurns since that causes even more out of sync errors.

But then online does not make a sense...I play with RL friends...we could also just come over to each other's place and play hot seat. We only play online because of sim. turns as it is faster.

Heroes able to retreat?
I don't get it...I'm playing with or better against a friend...bad neighbours map. We always have the option to retreat from a battle...why? Basically, I can use a level 1 hero to go underground and collect all resources and he cannot do anything against it. Nobody has to fight...only if his city is attacked...which is pretty stupid. Is this a bug?
