Diplomacy

I've recently starting experimenting with this skill and I'm still not quite sure how it works. I had a hero (forgot the name/Sheriff) who started with a 10% additional chance for neutrals to join. I then maxed out her Diplomacy tree and the whole game I only got on group of cabrirs and maybe a couple of other core creatures to join me even though most staks were "trivial" to me. So, I'm just wondering what other factors influence the chances of this working other than army size. Faction?

i think the Default values are pretty low so ull not often see it proc, ive improved this with my mod, also made it cheaper with better skill, so the skill is more viable on smaller maps as well, u may check it here http://www.hommdb.com/mods/heroes7/h7-improved

Thanks, I'll look into the mod, but I was hoping for further explanation on how it works in the vanilla version. I've seen others use it a lot in multiplayer online games but it never seems to work for me.

Vanilla all u can do is stacking the buffs avalaible like buldings artifacts and the 3 tiers in diplomacy and hope for a proc, i think u get another chance when ure diplomacy increases else not when und contact the enemy, beside that the base % is grounded in the threat of the army trivial will most likely join, deadly is impossible in vanilla i think

it definitively works, but yes the neutrals need to be weaker than you

I just must have really bad luck. Same thing happed again today. I've been using the same map as a testing ground and out of the trivial neutrals, only one stack wanted to join me. I had grandmaaster diplomas y plus an extra 15% from the haven building. Thanks for the tips though.
