Stuck in The Descent

I'm stuck right after the part where there's two small red platforms above one long red platform, and a lantern on each of the upper two platforms, one above the other.

The problem is, it's not the same as the walkthrough - the bit just before it, mine had some slightly lowered bits of the floor, that the walkthrough didn't. Mine has the save-rock to the right of the platforms not to the left. And more importantly, in mine the bit right after that has a tall wall down the middle of it (in any light) and the two platforms are pressed up against the left wall, way too far from the wall to be of any use getting over it. I can't find any sensors that might move the platforms or the wall.

This is the first time I've needed a walkthrough, and the answer to my problem appears to be "don't have the level be the way it is". What am I supposed to do here?

-Posting this for anyone else who gets stuck here-

This part (and the whole 20minutes before the first boss) is badly designed.

The first red sensor is located on the bottomost platform's far left.
The second red sensor is partially revealed by the second sprinkle of fireflies.
1. Keep your green orb on at all times.
2. Get both red lanterns to the highest tiny platform.
3. Place the first red lantern on the far left of lowest platform. (the longest one)
4. Take the second red lantern and move slowly until the first red latern opens the gate.
5. Run through and place the second red latern on the elevated ground just below the second red sensor.
6. Run through.
