Community Update #11 Early Access launches on May 26th!

Greetings, Travelers!

We are excited to announce the release of Taverna on May 26th on Steam!

During the last weeks we have been working hard on bringing new features into the game.

Taverna has a new game mode: Tycoon, every few minutes your tavern will be valuated based on what you place, the valuation will be then reported into a world ranking, visible in the main menu!

Another feature that we implemented is a new quest system: connected to Steam achievements there will be missions that you can complete to unlock new roles. We may expand in the future on this mechanic to let you discover new items, paint colors and character customization options.

Go on adventure

I think it would be cool if there was like a bulletin board where you could " go on adventure" the players taking part would leave, but come back almost instantly but with different status effects. Maybe they are very hungry from adventuring, maybe stressed and they need some music and beer. Maybe someone died, say a NPC ( or player?) and they need a priest. The players that left might come back with rare items that could be traded? In perhaps the future, there might be player rooms that they could deco...

Community Update #10 Road To Early Access

Greetings, Travelers!

Taverna has been updated to the latest version of Godot and a lot of improvements are now in the demo!

What is the next step?

Taverna is coming out in Early Access, the reason why is that it we want to develop this game with the community squeezing all the potential that it has to offer.

We already have received a lot of feedback and ideas from you, thanks so much! We are always listening to you comments on Discord which a lot of them have already been transformed in changes in the demo.

Community Update #9 Taverna updated to Godot 4.4

Greetings, Travelers!

With the release of Godot 4.4 at the beginning of March, we decided it was the right moment to update Taverna to the latest tech.

What are the improvements? There's a lot on the table.

Jolt physics engine has been officially included into the engine (it was an extension before), this will allow us in the future to add physics prediction easily to the game, that will reduce noticeably latency as client while interacting with objects. It will not come soon, but we already have done some tests and it's going to be amazing.

Shaders stutters are almost solved now. With the introduction of ubershaders, compiling will be only occur a couple of times, so the overall initial experience is going to be improved.

A new tonemapping has been introduced: AgX. We are still experimenting with it, but as it stands it's a nice graphical improvement with no performance costs.

Physics interpolation. Finally it arrived for 3D as well. It will allow us to further reduce CPU load as we can easily drop the physics tick to something like 10-15 (from 30). It only effects the server, but it's a nice performance improvements for lower-end pcs.

UID (Unique idenfifier) has been extended to scripts and shaders. The absence of this massive necessary feature has been crippling the project for a while now and it's been solved. What it means is faster iterations on debugging and refactoring. Without this feature, refactoring on specific scripts has been impossibile.
