Silence of the Sleep

Silence of the Sleep

On a scale of 1 to 10, how scary is this?
Where does this game rate in terms of pure scariness, by which I mean does it have such thick atmospheric creepiness in it that you experience moments of genuine terror? Does the whole of the game build up and tingle the hairs on the back of your neck with a slow, disturbing sense of dread? Does it make you spend lots of time hiding behind doors, in dark corners, hoping nothing sees you? Or is it just full of cheap jump scares and overdramatic voice acting?

For reference, this is how I'd rate some others I've played (in regards to scariness only):

Amnesia: The Dark Descent - 10
Penumbra series - 10
Alan Wake - 7
Five Nights At Freddy's - 4
F.E.A.R. - 6
Fatal Frame (PS2) - 10
Fatal Frame 2 (PS2) - 10
Resident Evil (the original) (PSX) - 8
Resident Evil REmake (GC) - 9
Resident Evil 4 (GC) - 5
Barrow Hill - 6
Scratches - 9
Siren (PS2) - 10
The Last Door - 6
Silent Hill (PS2) - 10
Silent Hill 2 (PS2) - 10
Silent Hill 3 (PS2) - 8
Silent Hill 4 (PS2) - 7
Silent Hill Origins (PS2) - 6
Silent Hill Homecoming - 3
Cryostasis - 7
Dead Space - 8
Knock-Knock - 5
The Lost Crown - 7
Slender The Eight Pages- 2
System Shock 2 - 8
Eternal Darkness (GC) - 8
Cold Fear (PS2) - 4
SCP Containment Breach - 7
Darkness Within - 8
Darkness Within 2 - 7

I'd say scare factor is like a 7 maybe but that's mostly the being tense/anxious factor.

I played through a hefty bit of it. Yes there are a handful of jumpscares, however most of the fear comes from the enviroment, music, and your personal anxiousness and paranoia. Regardless of the game being scary or not, it's an amazing game and you should play it.
Naaaa forget it u need to put outlast as the biggest horror game u dont have it on your list^^ Outlast and the dlc both the scariest games Ive ever played and Ive played all horror games
I already own Outlast, thank you for the suggestion though.

I still find Amnesia, Penumbra and Fatal Frame to be the scariest I've played.

The reason I don't have Outlast on my scariness scale there is because I haven't really played enough of it to judge it yet. :)

I was jump-scared, when I've opened the in-game menu for the first time. o_O
