Icewind Dale NPCs mod

If you want a party of dungeon crawlers that has more character I really recommend using this mod - Icewind Dale NPCs: created for the original release of Icewind Dale, it has now been updated to work with the Enhanced Edition.

Whilst I love Icewind Dale, after having completed the game multiple times with "no talk - just work" party of adventurers I personally can't play the game anymore without having NPC followers with something to add to the story.

The writing of the characters is pretty good; they can take take part in your conversations with existing game characters and there are romance possibilities.

New game highly recommended, otherwise you will miss a lot, and you don't get to properly built your relationship with the characters.

(also - do read the manua before asking any installation related help - WeiDU mods are some of the simplest ever to install; I could do it as a little kid back in the heyday of Infinity Engine games when I couldn't even fully understand English, which isn't my native language - it'll also get you covered with what exactly you are getting)

I've heard this is really good for those players who enjoyed the Baldur's Gate type banters. I will probably check this out as a second playthrough.

Seriously? LOL

Did you even read what you quoted?

It adds NPC's to your party instead of using created party members. These party members carry the torch of the BG companions. Banters, romances, etc.

Yes, that about sums it up: if you want a more Baldur's Gate like experience with party banter and all that - you should give this a go.

I tried this mod on 2 seperate occasions and I cannot get over how poorly written and voice acted these characters are. I appreciate the modding communities efforts but I would pass on this one.

Woo I never knew this, or forgot it. Alas it's stuff that are a nightmare to make work on Mac. I wish it was included as an option in the EE version.

The voice acting is what it is, but the writing is decent: Pocket Plane and the Gibberlings 3 communities are old-school modder communities going way back to heyday of Infinity Engine games, and overall the this mod is just fine.

Achievements were just recently added to the game, so now's a perfect time to play Icewind Dale - and If you like your game with a more party member story focused experienced, you should definitely try this mod out.
