Thanks a lot!
You can edit many aspects of saved game, but mostly I used it when I selected the wrong weapon skill for example.
Note : making changes triggers a Rest (regain spells, etc.). This is normal; there is a sort of internal database so-to-speak.

* Beta patch 2.6.5 : Steam game > Properties > Beta : Road_to_2.6
It includes tons of bug fixes. For example, it fixes the Cleric of Tempus ability.
[ EDIT - ERRATUM : I thought we were discussing IWD1. What follows is only for IWD1.]
That page is about IWD *2*, which is very different: it uses 3.5 D&D.
I tried it for laughs: it does not recognize the exe nor the resources, because it is for IWD2.
The IWD1 page : https://sorcerers.net/Games/IWD/index_editors.php
Again, EEKeeper worked fine and I tested it for 100+ hours this very month:
https://eekeeper.sourceforge.io/
Note how it mentions IWD in the compatible games.
1) You can place EEKeeper pretty much anywhere as such. I placed it in Documents folder as a lot of game stuff goes there.
2) Open EEKeeper and click the Settings tab :
a) Installation Directory :
C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Icewind Dale Enhanced Edition\
- your drive letter is probably just C. I have a second hard drive, so some of my games are on D.
b) User Save ... :
C:\Users\YourWindowsName\Documents\Icewind Dale - Enhanced Edition\
- The "YourWindowsName" depends on what you called your Windows account.
