Really now? so because you have an outdated version of the game that MAY or MAY NOT work you won't buy it???

well I will prob be buying this since they added content making it WORTH BUYING.

to quote someone earlier....

"This information should really be on the Steam store page. Some big selling points here.

- Six expanded quests, featuring content cut from the original game
- 60 new items
- Heart of Winter and Trials of the Luremaster expansions
- 31 new class and kit combinations from Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition, well as the half-orc playable race
- 122 new spells carried over from Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition
- Cross-platform multiplayer
- A new "Story Mode" difficulty setting to allow players to experience all of the story with none of the Game Over screens "

so yea worth the 20$ :)
First off.
The original still works just fine. Unless his discs are damaged, there's no question as to it "not working".

Secondly.
The extra items, spells, kits, etc. Most were already available simply by playing IWD through the BG2 engine. And far more items, spells, kits, etc. are still available for the original as mods. Which may or may not ever get updated to work with this version.

Story Mode.
The original had cheat codes too.

Cross-platform Multiplayer.
Pretty sure the original had this for Mac/PC, or at least the eventual Mac port was compatible. But obviously there was no Android version back then and I assume they've made it easy to migrate savegames back and forth from PC to tablet/phone. This seems like a worthwhile addition to me.

For me, this was worth $20 because:
a. I only owned 3 copies of the IWD series.
b. I like some of the improvements they made that can't be done with mods. Like mouse wheel zooming, and showing more accurate info on the character screen, etc.
c. I really want an updated version of IWD2 to get made. With all the scripting support of BG2. So I can finally play the BG series with a 3E Infinity Engine. :)

Whether this is worth the money for someone who already owns the original is something only they can decide. Hopefully I'll be able to get at least one playthrough of this done between other games before DA3 comes out in <3 weeks and eats up the rest of my free time. :)
wait a month my friend if this game sells enough i bet you will see number 2 pretty soon ;)

Not for me. It's 31 Turkish lira (like 15 dollars) on steam and 20 dollar on gog. And hopefully there will be a good sale on steam.

Some of you are crazy. It's easily worth it.

GOG doesn't use DRM. You had to make an account because it's a store. Once you download the game from them, you never have to deal with them again. You can back it up, copy it, install it to as many computers as you want, etc. It won't matter if GOG goes out of business. As long as you still have a copy of the game, you'll be able to play it.

Steam has an offline mode, yes. But you will always have to install it through Steam. You will always have to link it to your Steam account. And you will always have to launch it through Steam. Whether online or offline.

That's basically the difference between no DRM and DRM.

You can laugh as much as you want but GOG has NO DRM whatsoever. Having an account doesn't imply anything about DRMs

On the other hand, to launch your Steam games you NEED to launch Steam. And "offline mode" doesn't work for every title, and sometimes, even when it works, it puts some limitations on your gaming. As icing on the cake, companies who use Steam to distribute their games have their own DRMs in those games too. So, games on Steam have sometimes even a double DRM lock.

To be fair, I'd prefer achievements/cards over wallpapers/avatars ... the game is ancient. All you have to do for wallpapers/avatars is do a google search. I tend to not care about out of game goodies though.
I don't care about avatars, wallpapers or guides either, but are the achievements/cards/badge worth 4.10€ + DRM ?

So, if you buy a box of chocolate on amazon, you get DRMed chocolates, since you had to create an account too ?
Without DRM, if you buy a game then download it and put it on cd/dvd/usb, you can install the game anywhere, anytime, even on a new computer without internet. With gog, you can. Now try to do it with a steam game... you can't

I just noticed it, after buying the game on Steam for 19.99 EUR, that it is 15.89 EUR on GOG! :D
Siddha 2014 年 10 月 31 日 下午 12:21
Why do the "Steam is DRM" whiners bother to have a Steam account?

Just to whine & hate I guess. There are people who get off on hating & whining.
