Madstoni's link is a good one.

You can also check out here.

I'm not really that well versed in all of them but if you are looking for a variety of different kits then Divine Remix, A Frosty Journey (disclaimer: this is mine), and Scales and Balance are probably your best options. You can find links for them in the above link.

Unfortunately there really aren't any quest mods available yet. I was hoping to make one but I just haven't had the time for it.

NOPE! None of these MOD's that require you to install into your Infinity Game Engine folder work. Since there is NO folder in the Steam edition.

Its likely to be found in Program Files/Steam/Steamapps/Common/Icewind Dale Enhanced Edition...

Try to complete the game ironman style. Saving only on exiting the game, and all saves overwrite the previous one. It's very challenging. Also, no 'max hp on levelling'. I've been trying to finish the game this way for so long -never been able to do it. You need a very efficient and streamlined party and should save all the money you get for resurrections early in the game.
I actually found even back in the day, IWD always gave a lot of replay value due to the amount of party making options you can produce, espescially with muti-classing. Now, with that option essentially increase again, you should have a lot more hours of potential party making and randomness. :-/

Any update to this original question for October 2018? Thanks
I've just begun a play though using the 3.5e rules mod - it basically tries to apply 3.5 rules as far as possible but adapts to the limitations of the base game to come up with something that really works for IWD. I think it's great, having played to level six so far.

To work with the IWD core engine limitations you can't pick levels from across classes like you do in later edition D&D, but there's a ton of cool magic and combat feats to create interesting combinations with. If you want a hybrid there are set multi-class classes - so a Fighter/Mage is a class in its own right, with fewer combat feats and slightly lower attack power than a fighter, and slightly worse spell progression than a mage.

There are some good options totally new to IWD too, like Ninjas and Mage Knight Sorcerors.

I will say though, with the optional 'improved enemies' installed, it's harder than I'm used to. Dialling the difficulty back from Core to Normal is still giving me a challenge.
