You should be able to.

What's even worse is you can dual wield most of the bludgeoning weapons as well. So War hammers, maces, morningstars, flails. The one that sticks out to me is the war hammers because the image it shows in inventory looks closer to something that would need two hands.

I mean, it would be for someone like me or you. A being with superhuman strength in a fantasy setting? Not so much.
Yet dual-wielding in this game (and not in BG either) is NOT about requiring superhuman strength.

If we're going nitpick regarding the realism of people in dungeons and dragons using two longswords at once we should start going after the endless pockets of holding they have too. I mean, how can they properly fight while lugging all this stuff around? How are they completely unencumbered as long as they are 1LB under the weight limit? It makes no sense! A person with 10 strength can fight while carrying up to 69lbs of stuff with no impediment to movement! That's an affront to realism, and we can't be having that in Faerun. Also, realistically, halflings should be limited to 5 or 6 STR, and only able to use daggers. Maybe the strongest of the strong can use short-swords but that is all I'd allow. Now that I think about it this entire 20 year old game needs a realism rework. Leave the Arcane and Divine magics alone though, perfectly acceptable as is.

Encumbrance in these games is one of the gameplay tradeoffs by design. The rules want to punish those players that hoard loot, but at the same time nothing mandates that a character in a battle wears a heavy backpack filled with stuff. And obviously, it doesn't even need to be heavy items to become unrealistic. It could be a hundred potions. :steamhappy:

If we're getting into the realism debate, how come they can carry 200k gold coins without issue too?

The weight issue aside, where the hell are they keeping it all? 😀
