what do the expansions bring?

i played BGs and IW back in the days

i always felt IW was OK but not fantastic so i never purchased the expansions

now i ve read the EE brings two expansions, since i know i ll buy IW EE, i m wondering if the expansions are good enough for me to buy IW EE at full price

how exciting are they? and how much new content do they bring?
i ve replayed IW 3 years ago so im not in a hurry to replay the main story, but if the expansions bring a lot to the game, i just might buy it this week, if not, i ll wait until it goes on sale

(i ve always enjoyed outdoor maps more than dungeons)

The only expansion I know of is the Heart of Winter. It raises the xp cap, makes some changes, more loot, new outdoor/indoor areas. It has nothing to do with the original IW and can be started at level 9(?) thou I remember my characters getting masscared pretty badly at that level.

As for trails of the luremaster, it was a free addition to the original game so I don't consider it an expansion.

Trials of the Luremaster was the free DLC they released because fans complained that HoW by itself was too short. It takes a few hours to finish and is decent in its own way. I like HoW better though. Trials of the Luremaster is more of a straight up dungeon crawl, while HoW has more of a storyline.
