Unable for Wizard to gain spells
For most of the time when playing the IceWind Dale 2 game Ive been noticing something that makes me unable to play the game. Apparently when I level up.. lets say to level 5 I can't acsess certain spells. Even though it says I have 2 or 3 spell slots available I can't get the Wizard to learn the spells.. The Wizards Intel is 18. Also the cleric and Druid may have a similar problem. Is there an update for this game? If so, how would I be able to update it?

The number of spells a mage can learn depend on his INT. Gulp an INT-boosting potion to be able to scribe more spells.

Wizards, Bards or Mages need to find spell scrolls to learn first. Sorcerers can learn magic on level up and Clerics or Druids automatically know every spell they can. There is a very limited amount of spells scrolls available in Icewind Dale so you may want a sorcerer if taking more than 1 or 2 Wizards, Bards or Mages

As Chronie said above--have you written any spells to your spellbook yet?

In IWD there are very few locations to purchase spells. Many scrolls are finds in chests, etc.

Orrick in Kuldahar sells them. His inventory will update the 1st time you return from Dragon's Eye and include higher level spells than his initial inventory.

There is a priest in Dragon's eye that sells a few (some of his aren't available anywhere else)

There is a reclusive mage in Upper Dorn's Deep. He also has some unique scrolls not available anywhere else (he is grumpy, but be nice and he will sell to you)

I think Nym in Lower Dorn's Deep has a couple of scrolls in his inventory.

That is about it unless you go to Lonelywood in the Heart of Winter expansion.

Many of the scrolls, although seemingly common spells, are "one shot" deals. There is only one copy of that scroll in the entire IWD game. I highly recommend using a potion of genius to boost your intelligence before copying it to your spell book, (or lowering the difficulty to easy which guarantees success).

In Baldur's Gate, gulping intelligence boosting potions to a max of 25 int gives you unlimited scribing. I assume it must be the same with this game too.

Yes, it is the same. Very important to use them when learning spells in general. There are a number of spells for which there is only one scroll for that spell within the game. That potion helps to prevent failure on scribing, that is unless you want to lower the difficulty when you do add it to our spell book.
