Party AI should I have it on?
What are the advantages/disadvantages to using party AI? Should I have it on?

AI will sometimes interrupt an input to cast a spell an make a normal attack. It could be frustrating at times.
But when you are surrounded by ennemies, once you have killed one, with a normal attack AI, the character will automatically attack the next ennemy: it is more efficient, you dont lose time.
For a melee caster like a cleric or a druid, I would have a finger on the AI key, to activate and de activate the AI just to cast a spell.
Also, for your rogue, using a the rogue AI could be useful; your rogue would automatically begin to search for traps once the combat ends. (Or automatically hide in the shadows.)

Do what works for you is the rule of thumb.

AI behavior can be customized by choosing from a variety of scripts and checkboxes, such as to automate finding traps, singing bard songs, casting spells or not, or attacking nearby foes aggressively. Simply toggling the big Party AI button might not suffice depending on your party members and your playstyle.

IMO, the best way to play is to have melee fighters be on AI and just hack away, while casters have no AI and the you just manually control what they do. If any of your melee fighters need pre-buffing e.g. fighter/mage you would need to do that before combat anyway, so turning AI on/off doesn't matter.

I tend to only use party ai when it is a fight that I can just debuff and let the fighters do the work without any focus. Any fight that requires anymore tactics and it's ai off

I do not use it, but it can be good like D"amarr said as a way of making sure they attack even if you forget to ask them to.

Find Traps : the AI script to search for traps out-of-combat is nice.
Bard : AI to sing whenever idle.

One thing is clear, using an AI that cast spells is a waste, unless you do not mind resting often (not my playstyle: I try to rest as little as I can).

AI can be effective, but it depends on class and build. Generally i avoid it on mages and other casters, i like to do those myself.

But i can envision a Debuff Sorceror with only buffs and debuffs have a good time with the AI on. Same for Summoner Mages, or the Shaman if you build for it (pick spells for it).

I have tried the Clerics Turn Undead on Auto AI, but it seems to be bugged, the cleric never turns when Idle.

The three i almost always use scripts for is
Rogue: Find traps always (included in the heat of Combat),
Rogue / Shadowdancer Hide & Backstab, and
Ranger Archer that only fires Arrows and moves away from Meele.

party ai does nothing from what i have seen in 3 hours of playing. no noticable difference at all

Uhm, it strictly depends on your AI behavior settings/customizations.
