EE Keeper: works (import for new charnames) and doesn't work (saved game for present charnames).
On IWD:EE, I can only get it to edit character pregame (via File-->Open Char File), but cannot get it to work for editing characters postgame (via File-->Open Saved Game).

I downloaded EE Keeper years ago for BG:EE and it seemed to work for both back then. Additionally I have attempted to change the directory path as instructed on the link (Troodon80's 1.0.4 walkthrough on Beamdog) but cannot get it to edit in game characters.

Any solid advice is most welcome:steamsad:

Thank you very much robomagon, I figured it out but trust me when I say you absolutely pointed me in the right direction with the correct labeling in the User Data Save Directory. The problem was twofold:

After doing the first step (entering a name into the Game Profile box, selecting "add") I proceeded to the language box, but there wasn't any language to select where you drop down. This had me thinking that I was supposed to manually enter " lang\en_US\" (because it is what is in the next file folder after the save file from the drive). And this was part of the problem.

What I should have done (what worked for me anyway) was choosing a name to put in the Game Profile box first, hitting "add", then "apply", then selecting CANCEL. Selecting "OK" was preventing it from working correctly and not sure why. After CANCEL (and making sure both Install Directory and User Save Data Directory had the correct direction as we discussed earlier) it will close the window. Now keep in mind, the language box will still be empty at first with nothing in the drop list before you close it with "cancel". However, when you open it back up, you select the name from the drop down list in Game Profile, hit "add" again, THEN a selection of language options appear (in my case English), then hit "apply" again. This exact process worked for me.

I would like to reward you for your help. What genre of games do you like?
That's great. Glad you finally got it working.

And don't worry about me, I enjoy helping people out.

Definitely sounds like an installation directory problem. If you're sure you set it correctly I'm not sure what the problem could be.

Is your Steam folder in Program Files? If so, you might try running EE Keeper as an admin.

-Game Profile: ice

-Installation Directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Icewind Dale Enhanced Edition\

-Langauge: lang\en_US\

-User Save Data Directory: C:\Users\Kenoabi4\Documents\Icewind Dale - Enhanced Edition\save\000000025-testy1\ice\

This is how I have it set up. I tried quite a few other directory attempts, thinking I was formatting wrong (and I probably am). The thread in the above mentioned post on Beamdog had 53 pages and I spent over 3 hours thumbing through half of it trying to find a solution but no dice. I know I am close but the haxor skills is weak in this one.:steamsalty:

Save data directory should just be "C:\Users\Kenoabi4\Documents\Icewind Dale - Enhanced Edition\". No quotes.

There is nothing displayed in "File"-->"Open Saved Game", and I know it worked the way its expected to on BGEE (I can even see those save files in a folder) as that was the way to access save files and alter them back at the time I played BGEE. But I have not had any luck on IWDEE so far, just the ability to alter pregenerated and saved charnames.

I changed it (deleting that segment after "Edition\"), and still the Open Saved Game page is blank. Could there be something wrong with the Game Profile input?
robomagon Jul 14, 2019 @ 4:13pm
Could you check that folder and make sure there's a folder called "save" in it? And make sure it's actually got your savegames in it.

One last thing I can think of is you can try moving your saves from the save folder to the mpsave folder and play in a password protected multiplayer game by yourself. That would let you export your characters, edit them, and then reimport them back into the game (without having to start a new game). Once you're done editing them as you like, you can just move the saves back from the mpsave folder to the save folder and continue in single player.

I am going to sound like an idiot but always humble enough to ask. When you say folder, are you speaking about Save Data Directory folder or were you replying to the Game Profile "label"?

Where I am to locate said folder if it's the former not the latter?

The initial way I understood the process, you have to create a folder below the save file. In this case (before you first answered to the topic), I created a save file in the "User Save Data Directory" that was labeled "000000025-testy1" named it "ice", and in the top box at "Game Profile" put in "ice". I am probably misunderstanding the process, but was under the impression this was so the the new data would be directed into a new file ("ice" in this case).

I meant the save date directory, Documents\Icewind Dale - Enhanced Edition\save\. That's where your single player saves should be. There should be lots of them in there that look like 00000000xx-yyyyy. There shoulsn't be any folders inside of those. Just 2 BMP files, a GAM file, and a SAV file. I have no idea why anyone would have told you to make a folder inside one of the save folders.

Don't ever be afraid to ask questions. If anything, It's probably me not explaining well enough.

Ok, after the backward slash after "Edition", there are six that follow the directory. Tne one in question is "Documents\Icewind Dale - Enhanced Edition\save\". There are 3 "sub-directories" (I be saying it incorrectly, but bear with me) and they are labeled with the numerical prefixes "000"etc with the save names that are at the home screen for loading save files (testy1, Save 1, and Quick-Save in this case; I only have 3 saves on file).

Keep in mind I have User Save Data Directory as "C:\Users\Kenoabi4\Documents\Icewind Dale - Enhanced Edition\save\" as advised.

User save data directory setting shouldn't have the "save\" at the end.

Subdirectory is actually the correct term, I just say folder because most people born after 1990 don't know what I'm talking about otherwise. I don't even say subfolder anymore.

If that still doesn't work, you could try the multiplayer route I suggested earlier.

Also, I just checked and EE Keeper gives no error whatsoever if the folder name is misspelled/doesn't exist. The list just shows up blank. I'd recommend using the browse button and pointing to the .\Documents\Icewind Dale - Enhanced Edition\ folder that way.

Oh I thought you had meant to change it to this. Ok, I did have correct the 2nd time but even that
Vorpal Spoon Jul 14, 2019 @ 5:16pm
-But even that didn't work. This is what it is set as right now:
Game Profile: it is blank

-Installation Directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Icewind Dale Enhanced Edition\

-Langauge: lang\en_US\

-User Save Data Directory: C:\Users\Kenoabi4\Documents\Icewind Dale - Enhanced Edition\

Actually it will not allow me to leave the the box Game Profile blank.
Vorpal Spoon Jul 14, 2019 @ 5:26pm
So I am willing to try your suggestion. I have never created a multiplayer game and do not know how to find the mpsave file (I look around, maybe it doesn't exist because there isn't a multiplayer save file existing presently?) Could you give me laymans step by step of how you would do that? I'm going to try that.
